This modern and comfortable 4 bedroomed holiday home enjoys a superb location in the popular seaside resort of Downings in North West Donegal. Situated in a small, safe development of about a dozen cottages, this holiday home is within easy walking distance of all that Downings village has to offer, including beaches, hotels, traditional pubs, coffee shops and restaurants.

Whether you are looking for a busy,family,beach holiday or a quiet and relaxing break away from every day stresses, this property has everything that you need to make your holiday a truly memorable one.

The holiday home is well furnished and tastefully decorated and provides a comfortable blend of contemporary and traditional features. The master bedroom, with ensuite facilities, is located on the ground floor, making it a popular choice with parents and grandparents alike. The twin bedroom on the ground floor, with two single beds, is right next to a separate downstairs wc.

The modern, fitted kitchen is fully equipped with all the items that the seasoned holiday maker requires and the separate dining area offers fantastic views over Downings Bay. The living room, just off the kitchen, has an open fire and is the ideal place to unwind after a hard day at thebeach. There is a separate utility area just off the kitchen, equipped with washing machine and tumble drier.

Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms, one with ensuite facilities , and each with a double bed. The main bathroom is located at first floor level, just between the two bedrooms. All of the bedrooms are finished with good quality bed linens and luxury towels are also provided at the house.

Externally there is parking for about 3 vehicles and the grassed areas are ideal for relaxing and taking in the views.

The house will be rented in a clean and tidy condition, with beds made up with quality bed linens and towels in the bathrooms/en-suites. An English speaking housekeeper is on hand to meet and greet visitors to the house and answer any queries about the local area that you may have.

You will be expected to leave the holiday home in the same clean and tidy way in which you find it and please be advised that there is an additional charge of 100 euros to cover the exit clean. This charge is payable locally to the housekeeper.

Conditions

A 25% deposit is required on bookings at least 6 weeks in advance with the balance payable 28 days prior to the holiday.

Payment in full is required on bookings made less than 6 weeks before the holiday.

A £200 security deposit against damages is to be included with the final payment. This is refunded after an inspection of the house within 14 days of departure.

We can accept payment by cheque or bank transfer in GB pounds.

The Donegal region

One of the best things about Donegal is the wide choice of activities that it has to offer. Whether it is sampling the world famous craic and hospitality in the local pubs and restaurants, or walking on the numerous unspoilt beaches, we can guarantee that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Atlantic Drive, a spectacular road around the Rosguill Peninsuala, provides breathtaking views of the classic, rugged Donegal coastline, facing onto the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic Drive itself is approx. 12km long and is quite simply a must to see and do when staying in this part of Donegal.

Glenveagh Nartional Park is located in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains and is a remote and beautiful wilderness of rugged mountains, deep glens and pristine lakes. The park is home to Glenveagh Castle , a fine Victorian castle, along with the peaks of the two highest mountains in Donegal, namely Errigal and Slieve Slaght. A trip to Glenveagh is is quite simply a great family day out and there are fantastic organised, outdoor activities for the children during the summer months.

The nearby village of Dunfanaghy offers numerous craft shops, art galleries and coffee shops.

Ards Forest Park and Friary, located on the main road between Creeslough and Dunfanaghy, is another popular tourist destination.

The Downings / Magherabeg area

There are two superb championship golf links courses at the world renowned Rosapenna Golf Club in Downings. The Old Tom Morris Links has been attracting golfers from all over the world for over 100 years and with the addition of the magnificent Sandy Hills Links, Rosapenna is set to become one of the top links courses in the world. Rosapenna is just a short drive from the holiday home.

Downings offers 2 fabulous beaches, one of which is recognised as a EU Blue Flag beach, ideal for children as the water is very shallow. Numerous caves and rock pools are just waiting to be explored and both beaches are a short walk from the house.

Kite and wind surfing are popular activities in Downings, along with cycling, mountain biking, hill and beach walking, horse riding, deep sea angling( local charters available), fishing, pitch and putt, not to mention sampling the fine foods and wines in the many local hotels and restaurants/pubs, which are within walking distance of the house.

The recently opened Magherabeg Leisure Centre offers an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room,. jacuzzi and gym. There is also a privately owned indoor soft play area for children next to the Leisure Centre - Kidz Kingdom - ideal for the kids to let off steam on days when it's wet outside.

Nearby Carrigart offers a PADI approved Diving School at Mevagh Diving Centre, offering some fantastic family fun days.

Wi-Fi facilities are available in the local hotels.

We had a fantastic holiday ! The location is superb with views over the bay with so many uncrowded beaches. The house is truly a home from home and is finished to a high standard. It has the added benefit of being only a short walk into the town. We hope to pay a return visit very soon.
