About this location
The Dorset region
West Dorset is the perfect holiday location with uncrowded beaches, miles of unspoilt Heritage Coast, pretty harbours and little villages seemingly untouched by time. Lovely old houses, museums and houses to explore, excellent sea fishing off the long expanse of Chesil Beach or from nearby fishing lakes.
There are countless places of interest to visit in West Dorset – the sub-tropical gardens or swannery at Abbotsbury, for instance, or Hardy's Cottage. Lyme Regis, with its famous Cobb, immortalised in "The French Lieutenant's Woman". Weymouth, Portland Bill and Bournemouth are conveniently placed for a day out. If you wish to venture further afield, there is Brownsea Island or other National Trust properties to visit, or even a day trip from Weymouth to the Channel Islands.
Nearby, the local Palmers brewery, is the only brewery to have a thatched roof and offers tours (and samples) which you will not want to miss. West Bay, the pretty harbour of Bridport, was once used as the setting for "Harbour Lights", with Nick Berry portraying the Harbour Master, whilst television celebrity chef, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall was filmed near Binghams Farm in "Return to River Cottage". Bridport market is held Saturdays and Wednesdays in the town and there is an annual Carnival and Show.
Located in the West of Dorset and yet on the dramatic Jurassic coast Bridport is a thriving market town with food and arts events all year round. Market days are Wednesdays and Saturday with something to entice everyone.
Supermarkets include Morrisons, Waitrose, Co-op and Lidl with Tesco delievery service available. Local Butchers and Fruit & Veg shops are locate within the town centre and the award winning Washingpool farm shop is 4 kms away.
With many restaurants, bars and cafes on offer with tastes and price bands to suit all.

As owners we welcome feedback from our customers - whether by chatting
during their stay, our Visitor Books or Trip Advisor. We enjoy meeting
people and want our customers to enjoy their holiday. Over the last 11
years we have received some helpful feedback and ideas that have
benefitted future guests. So I am pleased you find us friendly and
welcoming, enjoyed my wife's home made cake, found the cottage interior
pleasant, views delightful and think you must have enjoyed the superb
weather during your week. We advertise Buzzards Swoop as set in 6 acres
of our fields, 5 minutes by car or bus outside of Bridport (the 2 miles you
mention) and overwhelmingly our customers praise the location with its
rural setting and space but closeness to Bridport, its amenities and the
coast at West Bay. We share a private drive with a small, immaculate
caravan park, Bingham Grange, that is only for adults and extremely quiet,
completely separate screened by trees and hedges and ideal neighbours.
During several conversations with Lisa and myself I am sorry that you did not mention to
either of us that you felt there was a smell on arrival as although there
is no slurry pit within miles of the cottage we would have immediately
tried to resolve whatever was concerning you and similarly if you were
short tea towels, our mistake, we would happily have provided more
straight away. Hopefully you will return to beautiful Dorset but perhaps
will be happier staying in a town centre location with faster broadband.

"An extremely relaxing and comfortable stay"
Our stay at Buzzards Swoop was excellent. Alastair and Lisa have thought of everything, the little touches like the cake when you arrive and enough milk to make a cuppa are very thoughtful. They popped in to make sure we were ok but left us to our own devices. It is equipped with just about everything you could ask for and is spotlessley clean and comfortable.
The cottage is set in stunning countryside and easy access to all the places we wanted to go. West Bay literally a few minutes away and Lyme Regis, Weymouth, Brockhampton all within short distnaces to travel.I would thoroughly recommend this cottage and the hosts to anyone. In fact my parents are now planning a visit in September and Im fairly sure" I will be back"...!!!!

Returned today from a short break (3 nights) at Buzzards Swoop, Alistair & Lisa were very welcoming, lovely muffins, milk & tea bags were waiting for us on our arrival.
A very relaxing stay, lots of walks which exhausted us & tired out our 2 dogs, would highly recommend & we are hoping to go for longer next year, hope they aren't booked up already !

"Home from home"
The property was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Excellent for dog owners as the garden is enclosed and also the paddock area & wooded area are great for walking the dogs. I also walked part of the Brit Valley walk as well, which is easily accessible from the property. The conservatory was very pleasant to sit in if it was cooler outside
(the WiFi was better in there as well !). The ample parking was also a bonus as we have found this to be a problem before when looking for a property to rent in the area. The owners Lisa and Alistair were very friendly and welcoming and any issues we had were dealt with immediately.
