Ref. 10893 - This apartment is located in a pretty house that enjoys a great location in the heart of Venice, in the San Marco district, a few minutes from the mythical square and 100 metres from the famous Museo di Palazzo Grassi. The central location of the building is a great starting point to easily visit the city's immense cultural and artistic heritage, characterised by the most romantic and unique atmosphere in the world. The house, set out over two floors and completely revamped, has been smartly furnished with valuable furniture, and is furnished with everything you need to make your holiday as pleasant as possible, with that touch of familiarity that only a real house can give. The apartment has a very characteristic hallway, a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge and an oven, a bathroom and a spacious living room with a TV and a double sofa bed. There are two spacious and bright double bedrooms, provided with beams with wooden staves and typical Murano glass chandeliers, and a bathroom with a hydromassage tub. The apartment also makes available to guests everything they need for breakfast (coffee, tea, biscuits…) and to cook with (oil, salt, pepper…). If you pay for it and request it, you also have a cupboard available with typical and exquisite Italian produce, as well as a cellar. Directions to services and other facilities available in the area are available to our guests whenever they require it, a calendar of the artistic and cultural events taking place in the city, as well as brochures and maps of Venice, maps of both the museums as well as the main tourist attractions. If your stay exceeds six days, the bed linen will be changed and your apartment will be cleaned.

Description: This is quite simply one of the most famous districts in Venice. Its unique main square, the Piazza San Marco, is one of the most photographed areas in the city and the sheer scale is a reminder of the grand era of the Venetian Republic, particularly in the Mediterranean; where it boasted a strategic position and very busy trade.
It is also home to numerous luxury hotels, restaurants and shops, and is the site of both the Palazzo Ducale and the famous bridge the Ponte dei Sospiri. This particular area of Venice has great historical significance and has been an important centre of politics and justice for many years.
Numerous palaces, the properties of the Patrician families of Ancient Rome, decorate the banks of the Grand Canal, and a host of important churches can also be found in this district.
The construction of the square began in the XI century. It was flooded on several occasions and its shape subsequently modified. The current square dates back to the last reform that was made in the year 1177. The cobblestones have been changed several times; the last being in 1890.
The gothic style Palazzo Ducale was the residence of the Dux during the Republic. It was built between the X and XI centuries but their various successors have made reforms and extensions to eventually create the building that stands today. It is currently used as a museum.
The Ponti dei Sospiri (the Bridge of Sighs) connects the Palazzo Ducale to the ancient prison that was used by the inquisition, I Piombi. The baroque style prison dates back to the XVII century and was named in reference to the prisoners who were brought here, and the site where they were to appreciate the sea and sky for the very last time.
Further places of interest in the area include: La Fenice theatre, the San Moisè church and the Palazzo Grassi that has recently been converted into an exhibition palace.
