With three en suites and a cosy open-fire with log burning stove for chillier evenings, or winter breaks, this home-from-home is able to sleep a total of six people over three double bedrooms. With patio doors opening onto the garden, visitors can enjoy al fresco dining, or just a cool glass of something refreshing on hot summer evenings, surrounded by the glorious local countryside. This is a great base for exploring all Dorset has to offer.

LPG gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, colour TV, DVD, CD player/radio etc. Fuel, power and starter pack of fuel for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 3 cars. Lawned garden to rear with two patios and garden furniture. One well behaved dog welcome (to be supervised at all times). Sorry, no smoking. Shop 3.5 miles, pub 10 mins walk. Note: There are horses stabled opposite the cottage.

The Dorchester / Tolpuddle area
Just eight miles from the bustling market town of Dorchester lies the quaint little village of Tolpuddle. Surrounded by glorious countryside, this charming settlement combines a tasteful mix of modern and thatched properties and is situated by the quaintly named 'River Piddle'. Nearby, the chalk downlands provide lovely walks through the gently rolling hills and quiet country lanes. Underlying its current tranquillity though, the village has a proud history and a local museum tells the story of Tolpuddle's six famous martyrs who held the first Trade Union meeting in 1831. The area boasts a number of other attractions, such as Athelhampton House, home to Lawrence of Arabia and the lovely nearby towns of Dorchester, Poole and Bournemouth. With such a wide variety of activities within easy driving distance, this lovely little location makes an excellent spot for an unusual and varied holiday.

Guestbook for 1594 - The Hayloft
The owners are very welcoming and helpful. Every bedroom is ensuite. Every room has a double bed which is a rarity. The cottage has amazing views in every direction and the stables are a nice addition to the views. The oven is huge and was excellent on Christmas day as we were able to roast a turkey and chicken whilst roasting all the veg. It's the small things that make all the difference!

,We loved the peaceful, pretty location. The cottage was lovely, very clean and much more spacious than anticipated. The garden was fully enclosed for the dog plus we found the whole Isle of Purbeck area was really dog friendly which made a refreshing change.

,The cottage was excellent. It was fantastic to find a property with just double beds. Our 2 year old loved having a big, big girl bed and the property does really suit calmer toddlers. There was a lovely big table in the kitchen that comfortably seats six. The owners were really friendly and I am hoping to stay again in the future. Thank you Sykes for making the whole process so easy. Will certainly use you again.

All prices are inclusive of the booking fee per week or short break.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.
Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.
"Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
