Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chisel Barn is a new conversion designed and fitted to the highest standards. The barn consists of two self-contained properties, Whites Ground and Foxditch. Both offer light and airy accommodation with a large double height kitchen and living space.
Chisel Ban Foxditch and Whites Ground are both furnished to the highest of standards and offer luxury accommodation. The properties have retained many original features including exposed beams and limestone flooring. The properties are set in stunning countryside and offer far reaching views from the furnished terrace.
The barns were the base for a large and successful dairy enterprise and remain part of a working farm, with the adjoining buildings still actively being used for stock.
The magnificent and commanding views look over the River Stour valley, the dairy pastures of the Blackmore Vale and the churches of Shillingstone and Child Okeford to the south and west, and the Iron Age forts of Hambledon Hill to the north and Hod Hill to the east. A short walk across the farm takes you through a wood and past a lake to the excellent amenities of Child Okeford, or up the steep slopes to the top of Hambledon Hill where, on a clear day, there are views for many miles. Hambledon Hill is a classic example of an Iron Age hill fort and is now a National Nature Reserve famous for its wild flowers.
This is just one of many and varied walks which also include the Trailway along the old Somerset and Dorset Railway (and the newly restored Shillingstone station) to Sturminster Newton and Blandford Forum.
For Guests who wish to bring their horses, Chisel Barn offers the ideal setting and facilities as detailed below:
Basic barn stabling and grazing is available at an additional charge of £10 a horse.

About this location
The Dorset region
Dorset's beautiful and dramatic scenery has long made the county a favourite with writers, poets and film crews. Jurassic cliffs plunge alongside picturesque harbour towns and coastal resorts, providing an impressive backdrop for the many popular Dorset holiday destinations. Blue Chip Holidays can offer Dorset holiday cottages in many of the county's towns, each of which has a slightly different experience to offer than the next. Poole has one of the world's largest natural harbours. Portland Castle was built in 1539 by Henry VIII to defend Weymouth. Tours of Thomas Hardy's Dorset are operated throughout the county.
Dorchester is the county town of Dorset and overlooks the River Frome. Close to Weymouth and Bridport, Dorchester is an historic market town with a fascinating past and connections with several famous figures. Dorchester holiday cottages are perfect for a Dorset holiday away from it all, and the surrounding area is an idyllic place to escape from it all. Holidays in Dorchester are perfect for family breaks, walking holidays and time away with friends – whatever your perfect pastime, Dorset is the ideal place to enjoy it. Thomas Hardy's former home in Dorchester is open to the public. Lawrence of Arabia is buried in Moreton, Dorchester. The Cerne Abbot Giant lies on a hill to the north of Dorchester.
