The West Country region
There are so many things to do in Dorset – if you are wondering where to go and what to do in Dorset, here are some ideas to help you explore, enjoy and make the most of this county.
The magnificent Dorset coastline, together with the outstanding natural beauty of the unspoilt countryside, makes this county a very special place to come and explore.
Discover the breathtaking Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site, stretching for 95 miles from neighbouring East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset. There is so much to do along this stunning coastline, which is world famous for fossil hunting. There are wonderful views for walkers on the South West Coast Path National Trail, or you can simply enjoy the spectacular scenery on a gentle coastal cruise.
Away from the coast you will find miles and miles of rolling countryside sprinkled with charming villages and fascinating market towns. Almost all of Dorset's countryside is protected and is home to a huge diversity of wildlife in downlands, tranquil river valleys, water meadows, woodlands and colourful heathlands.
The Classic Seaside Resort of Weymouth, with its fantastic beach and vibrant harbour, nestles perfectly alongside the rugged 'Isle' of Portland, the perfect place for visitors who just want to get away from it all. With plenty of places to eat and drink, and all year round events, attractions and activities there's something for everyone. NOT FORGETTING THE 2012 OLYMPICS JULY/AUGUST.

My husband & I took our 3 elderly parents to stay here for a week over Christmas. We found the house to be very warm & comfortable. The house was extremely well equipped & the decor was beautiful. It had even been decorated with tree & other decorations for Christmas, which really got us into the Christmas spirit! The house is close to amenities but secluded enough to feel that you are in the country. My husband & I enjoyed walking whilst our parents remained warm & comfortable inside! We would not hesitate to recommend this property & would definitely stay there again.

"Lovely relaxing retreat"
A home from home. Everything was in great condition and the property was extremely well equipped. We have a toddler and, with a few very minor adjustments (stowing away the breakables), the property was child friendly. Photos do not do the place justice and (as at Oct 2012) do not show the main bedrooms or main dining area. A car is essential but there is plenty to see and do a short drive away. We had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay.
