The West Country region

Dorset is the ideal setting for a holiday with its stunning and varied landscapes ranging from rolling countryside to miles of sandy beaches.

The coast and countryside of Dorset has changed little since the times of Thomas Hardy, with scores of pretty villages, traditional pubs and miles and miles of breathtaking coastal scenery. The unique and dramatic Jurassic coastline is so special it has been honoured with natural World Heritage status, with UNESCO describing the site as "an outstanding example, representing a major stage of the earth's history and the record of life".

The cottage is situated in the heart of East Chaldon, a delightful peaceful village in rural Dorset. With friendly village pub (The Sailors Return) a 2 minute walk away. The road outside the cottages leads to a track taking you directly to the fantastic world heritage coastal path. Great walks, cycles and beaches surround the area.

Dorchester is a market town 8 miles from East Chaldon with many fantastic independent and high street shops. With a selection of supermarkets (Waitrose, Tesco, Co-operative and Sainsbury's) everything is within easy reach.

Local attractions include Monkey World (, Bovington Tank Museum, Hardy's cottage and the Jurassic coast.

"A beautiful spot."

A lovely comfortable house to have spent our weeks holiday. All clean and tidy when we arrived. A pint of milk would have been appreciated after a long drive. A problem with the shower was promptly so… More

We are glad the guests enjoyed it, and also glad they found the milk (guest sent an apology that he had missed it upon inspection and did a hasty review!)
A repeat customer which is always a good sign thank you and has even called already to discuss a booking for next year too thank you!

"Stable Cottage is in need of TLC and a good clean"

Stable Cottage is a beautiful old cottage that has all the necessary amenities. On arrival there were flowers and milk waiting for us but sadly that was not all. It was very apparent that there had … More

We can only apologise for this situation and wish the visitors had called during their stay to complain as we would have sent the housekeeper straight to the house to try and sort out any issues. This is totally unacceptable and we have since dismissed the housekeeper as she was not fulfilling her duties. We apologise profusely and can ensure all future visitors will be happy as the new housekeeper is incredibly thorough. We would much rather people contact us during their stay so that we can try to sort out any issues, it is very disappointing for all parties concerned.
