Home description
This is a traditional Norman Farmhouse which has been extended and modernised to a very high standard - in keeping with its past. Recent holiday makers have used our cottage to explore the normandy d-day landing beaches ,the bayeaux tapestry, mt st michel the wonderful local markets and the spa town of bagnoles de l'orne. For an autumn break we include a log box in the rental for use on the wood-burning stove which forms the centrepiece of the living room. The woodburner has an internal grill for indoor bar-b-ques.

The Normandy / Orne region
Champguichon is 10km from the medieval town of Domfront providing supermarkets and historic old town with castle ruins and panoramic views. There is a Friday market and many bars and restaurants to enjoy. Flers is 15km and is a larger commercial centre with swimming pool and bowling alley. There are markets on Wednesday and Saturday and a good range of shops and supermarkets. Flers also has a main-line station to Paris and the seaside resort of Granville.
For veterans and other visitors interested in WW2, from Flers the Contre-Attaque route follows sites of historical interest in the battle for Normandy.
Domfront / Lonlay l'Abbaye area
Champguichon is situated within the Normandie/Maine regional park. The area provides lots of walking opportunities. Nearby is Fosse Arhour where you can follow the route of King Arthur, ride ponies, rock-climb, take refreshment or pick up the GR22 - chemin de Mont St Michel and walk to your heart's delight. To the East of Domfront is the foret des Andaines with all its flora, fauna and wildlife. East again will take you to the spa town of Bagnoles de L'Orne with everthing from pedal boats to a casino.
Food is important throughout France and Normandy is no exception with Andouille sausage, Camenbert, Calvados and cider being noted specialities of the region.
Our nearest town is Lonlay L'Abbaye which is very pretty and famous not just for its abbey but also for its delicious biscuits. A morning here spent wandering round the abbey followed by a walk up the hill to the biscuit factory would not be wasted.

A large log burner with internal grill is set into the granite fireplace in the living room. (1 box of logs will be provided per week) The separate kitchen has a large dual fuel range cooker and antique wooden units. Downstairs, the floors are tiled and upstairs the bedrooms all have fitted carpets.
Further details outdoors: The property is set back from the road and stands in its own grounds of about 1 acre, comprising fenced and gated parking, terrace and lawn areas. A patio set for 6 guests is provided.
