Home description
A delightful cottage set in 2 acres of natural gardens with duck pond and ducks. Croquet lawn and boules court. Cycles available. Excellent walking and cycling country. Plenty of country bars where a 3 course lunch costs on average 10 euros.
Horse riding in woodland countryside nearby. Many fishing lakes and golf courses nearby. 2 open air swimming pools and 2 indoor ones. Rock climbing 10 minutes away. Both the Normandy landing beaches and Mont St Michel Bay are just over an hour away.

The Normandy / Orne region
Basse-Normandie is predominantly agricultural in character, with cattle breeding the most important sector (although in decline from the peak levels of the 1970s and 1980s). The bocage is a patchwork of small fields with high hedges, typical of western areas. Haute-Normandie contains a higher concentration of industry.
Normandy is a significant cider-producing region, and also produces calvados, a distilled cider or apple brandy. Other activities of economic importance are dairy produce, flax (60% of production in France), horse breeding (including two French national stud farms), fishing, seafood, and tourism.
Domfront / Passais La Conception area
The village of Mantilly is only .7 of a mile away. It has most of the facilities you will need including a garage, hairdresser, butcher, baker, pattiserie, general store, bar, and church etc. Passais Le Conception is a little larger with two garages etc. plus banks.
Other places worth visiting are St. Framboult, a flower village which has in the past won the gold medal as the best in France, and Bagnole de L'Orne, which is a spa town of much charm.
Local activities include walking, cycling, golf, tennis, watersports, horse riding and fishing.
How to get there
The gite is situated just outside the charming village of Mantilly, in the Orne district of Normandy, close to St.Hilaire du Harcouët, Passais-la-Conception and the historic town of Domfront.
