About the home

Spacious, comfortable, detached home from home on the edge of 4 star fleuri village. Within walking distance of local shops, butchers, bakers, restaurant, hairdressers general store and a cafe bar. All open on Sunday morning!! This property is furnished with traditional French & English furniture. There is a newly updated bathroom with separate WC on the ground floor. Contains 1 double bedroom and 2 twin bedrooms-1 on the ground floor. Fully equipped, fitted kitchen. Laundry facilities.
Basement pool table & darts board +something to do if it rains... Ps2 + games DVDs & board games too

Ideal base for the Normandy region, close to Loire border. Boating lake is 5 minutes walk away where you can enjoy some fishing or boating, or even buy some frits and poisson from the cabin. Very friendly village within short walking distance.

This house was built in 1962 For the local Marie it is just on the edge of the beautiful village of St Fraimbault. The gardens are secure and have 2 sets of table and chairs with BBQ for that Al fresco style of living & all day sun or shade
One double bedroom and 2 twin rooms- one on ground floor. Travel cots high chair & stair gate available on request. Laundry facilities. Satelitte TV, DVD,video and use of internet also available. Large new bath with shower over separate WC.
Sunny fully equipped fitted Kitchen with door leading to side garden & BBQ ideal for breakfast outdoors.
Very comfortable base to explore the area of Orne or to chill and just relax
PS2 & games- supervision is required. Various DVDs also available. Pool table & darts board.
Selection of board games and reading material for use.
Friendly English or French speaking contacts available.

Village pedestrianised for the vintage car rally -15 July and for week of fleuri village 15 August when village becomes a high tourist attraction. Local market set up in main square selling good quality local produce. Events surrounding the fleuri festival in true French tradition
Whilst we do not restrict smokers to our property we would prefer no smoking within our property.

The Normandy / Orne region

The Orne region is steeped in history from the Bayeaux Tapestry to the medieval town of Domfront. For the shoppers at heart local markets can be visited nearly everyday. Nearby Bagnoles de Lorne is a spa town boasting a casino, & Golf course & lake. The Monastery at Saint Mont Michelle offers an interesting way to spend the day- you can even have tea with the monks!!

If food and drink is more your cup of tea then the biscuits at the biscuit factory in Lonlay Abbaye are not to be missed. With a sampling of cider at the Cider Museum in Barenton to end the day Mmmmm.. For the more adventurous the Foret des Ardaines is a superb backdrop for a bit of twitching or for a spot of walking in excellent scenery areas set out for picnicing too. For the adventurous an assault course nearby or kayaking in Torchamp is great fun !

A man-made beach is available at La Ferte Mace and the other at Suille Le Guillaume. Flers is the nearest commercial centre hosting a swimming complex with markets every Wednesday & Saturday.
Being close to the Loire border this property gives the tourists an ideal base to discover the real France

The Domfront / St Fraimbault area

There is a butcher, a baker, hairdresser and a little supermarket in the village. All open on a Sunday morning- ideal for late Saturday arrivals & day to day requirements. There is a cafe bar which serves snacks & a restaurant "Le Cocquelicot" all within 400yds from the house.
Tennis courts, assault course. mini golf, football and boules pitches available in the village. Beautiful walks to visit around the village.
Waterpark & golf course nearby.
4 star fleuri village since 1987. The Main town square gives pride of place to the local church & becomes pedestrianised for the spectacular event of Fleuri Village Festival when tourists come to visit the local market & spectacular gardens sponsored by local businesses and horticultural society of France-truly a sight NOT to be missed.
At the lake a boat may be hired or for those land lovers it is a lovely lake for an afternoon stroll. EVERY Friday
evening, in high season, there is dancing by the lakeside with a little cafe/bar very popular with the local villagers and tourists alike. Behind the lake there is an assault course and crazy golf & swings too. A mobile pizza van can be found in the village square on Saturday & Monday evenings until 9pm
Horse Riding at nearby Passais.

**AT CHRISTMAS***
Other local villages enter in the christmas light competition therefore the house is ideal base to visit the winning villages of Beauchene etc. and view the winner ! Vin chaud is the traditional drink of the season. Local fireworks display to bring in the New Year.

14th July is Bastille Day all over France with Fireworks to celebrate.

We are 30km from Mayene with a market on Mondays
Gorron hosts a very modern & large Super U petrol station with everything from food to garden accessories to clothes
The medieval town of Domfront is 10mins drive from the house. Here 3 Supermarkets & Petrol station can be found with an array of shops & local market every Friday morning. The town also has a great selection of places to eat. Further details on arrival.

Brittany Ferries Portsmouth-Caen Slower route but only an 1hr 30mins drive from house They have one fast ferry. No toll roads Cabin an option --you can obtain 15% DISCOUNT with this route via owner when booking house!!!
Ld Lines Portsmouth-Le Havre slower route too but really cheap if booked in advance with option of cabin too. Toll charges on route -approx 10 euros

Sea France Dover -Calais Quicker of ferries but remember you have a five hour drive on the french side. Toll roads can cost 30 euros PLUS

P&O Dover Calais- As Sea France

Channel Tunnel Folkestone-Calais quickest of all but long drive ahead and toll roads as above
