The Normandy / Orne region
Things to See and Do ChampGuichon is 10 km from the mediaeval town of Domfront, providing supermarkets, historic old town with castle ruins and view, a market on Fridays, and restaurants. Flers is 14 km and is a larger commercial centre with a new swimming complex, chateau, and markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. (At nearby Sourdeval, another market has a large livestock sale on Tuesdays). Flers also provides a mainline station to Paris. For veterans and others interested in World War II, from Flers the Contre-Attaque route follows sites of historical interest in the battle for Normandy.

ChampGuichon is situated within the Normandy-Maine regional natural park. The area provides lots of walking opportunities. Nearby is the Fosse Arthour where you can follow the "route of King Arthur" and either ride ponies, rock climb, take refreshment, or pick up the GR "chemin de Mont St Michel" and walk to your heart's delight! To the east of Domfront is the large Forêt des Andaines, with all its flora and fauna and wildlife. East again will take you to the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, with everything from pedal boats to a spa and a Casino.
Normandy is of course famous for its Normandy Landing beaches to the north along with Bayeux and Avranches, and Mt St Michel to the west; to the south of course can take you all the way to the Riviera!
Food is important in France and Normandy is no exception with Andouille sausages, Camembert, Calvados, and cider being especially notable specialities of the region. For the Christmas and New year period you can enjoy the illuminated villages of the region. Our closest at Beauchene, attracts thousands of visitors from all across the world.
Domfront / Lonlay l'Abbaye area
Our nearest small town is Lonlay L'Abbaye, which is very pretty, and famous not just for its abbey but also for its delicious biscuits. A morning here spent wandering around the abbey, followed by a walk up the hill to the biscuit factory, would not be wasted.
