Saintem is a beautiful lovingly converted former Brocante, it is over 200 years old with many of the original features remaining. including stone walls and beamed ceilings. It now offers all modern conveniences to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Saintem is set in a lovely village and sits in peaceful countryside surrounded by farmland and farm animals! The location offers long walks and bike riding along paths and canoeing at nearby Torchamp.

Saintem also makes a perfect base for touring Medieval Towns, Abbeys, Castles, World War 2 Memorials and beautiful long stretches of golden sandy beaches.

Lose yourselves in the space this house offers, With four double bedrooms, two bathrooms, extra large lounge, ten seat dining room, kitchen and breakfast room, utility room, three king-size beds, two double beds, one single bed, garden, satellite TV and plenty of parking.

For families with young children we have a high-chair, stair gate and travel cot. This is a very spacious property yet contains its warmth and homely feel in an old house in an even older village! Fresh croissants are available from the Boulangerie just across the road with a newly opened Boucherie offering fresh meat and delicatessen delights.

Rental includes fresh linen (beds made) and toweling as well as change over management and on call property management for parties of up to and including 6 guests.

The large lounge features two seating areas, satellite TV with DVD and VHS player, a music system, lots of DVDs, videos, CDs and games as well as a small snooker table and ample room for a large family or small group gatherings!

The dining room has a ten seater pine table.

The kitchen has a stable style door to the rear, a four seat table, welsh dresser, fridge, dishwasher, four ring hob, oven, microwave and all kitchen and dining utensils and wares.

Downstairs there is an entrance hall with room for hats, coats and shoes. There is also a second hallway with a computer desk. The utility room has a freezer, and laundry facilities as well as ample room for storage.

Upstairs there is a large landing with a bookcase containing a selection of reading material. The main bathroom has a shower, sink, WC and bidet; the second bathroom has a shower and sink, and there is a second separate WC.

Further details outdoors

There is parking for around 4 cars next to the house. The shed at the back has outdoor tables, chairs and sun loungers. The outlook to the back is wonderful overlooking a large orchard with views to the horizon. And we often get visits from our friendly neighbours. During the summer, its warm enough to sit outside and sip wine til midnight!

While this is a large house, we warmly welcome bookings for smaller numbers; one couple, families of four and more. Please enquire.

Rental includes change over management and on call property management and we also ensure the property is clean and ready for your arrival. A supplement of £10 will be charged for each guest. to include fresh linen and towels.

The Basse-Normandie region

The Normandy / Manche region is a fantastic area of France, offering a mix of traditional countryside, historic medieval towns and a wonderful coast with famous beaches.

Unrivalled cuisine such as the famous butter, fruits de mer, Calvados and regional cheeses would make a day trip here worthwhile in itself, but a holiday offers the chance to scratch beneath the surface and properly sample the huge range of sights.

Domfront

The house is 20 minutes from the pretty town of Domfront, with its medieval walls. Domfront town originally dates back to the 11th century. Today Domfront offers great exploring, through the winding cobbled streets, the castle ruins, the two historical churches dating back to 1020, many historically buildings, and its half timbered houses. Critically, Domfront has two very good supermarkets with petrol stations!

About 30 minutes away is Bagnoles-de-l'Orne - a legendary spa town. Long established as a thermal resort, it is typical of all French spas, having an atmosphere of elegance and tranquillity and being sparkling clean and cared for in appearance. Bagnoles-de-l'Orne is nestled in 7,000 acres of forest (Parc Naturel Regional Normandie-Maine) which provides ample opportunity for walks, hikes and bikes!

Thirty minutes in the opposite direction is the market town of St Hilaire du Harcouet. The weekly Wednesday market provides a typically French atmosphere with a variety of stalls selling locally produced food and goods. A great opportunity to sample some of the local delights (farm produced cheese, chocolate and wax products).

"Great space, needs the electics "tidied""

Fab big house with space for all of us ( we were 3 adults & 4 Kids), As the blurb says it is a personal space,(pictures,photos, nick knacks) fab if you like that sort of thing. On the main road to Mont St Michel - road is busy with lorries day & night - but double glazing works well - glad it wasn't hot so we needed the windows open though. Bedrooms configured a bit odd - one double off another, 2 doubles in one (large) room. Lighting- our biggest bugbear - sorry light switches that did nothing, others miles from the room they operate, maybe labels would be a good idea, lighting in the kitchen was terrible. Kitchen is nice & large but not well laid out. Water - warning it is VERY hot, might be an issue if you have small children a bath would be a lovely addition. Small garden overlooking an orchard - didn't get to use often - dam northern France Weather. Good base to explore, most things are about an hour away.

"excellent"

we all had a great time here , aged 20 to 75 ! The house has eveything you could wish for and its massive ,bakery across the road ,so friendly people , area was geat ,this was first time my mother father had been to france they loved it so much they wanted to stay,we would recommend a stay here ,ten out of ten.
