This stunning Welsh cottage is full of oldie world charm and character located in the lovely Lledr valley, 4 miles from Blaenau Ffestiniog and it's famous zipwire, mountain bike centre and underground trampolines. It's only 20 minutes drive from Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon; Wales' highest peak. In a radius of an hour's drive from 2 Tanycastell you will find most on North Wales' best attractions, natural and man made!

This stunning cottage comes with 3 bedrooms - 1 king size with en suite bathroom, 1 double and 3 singles + up to 2 travel cots. The main bathroom with bath, walk in shower, toilet and sink is located on the main landing. A large slate floor kitchen is ideal for cooking home made meals - to be eaten in the adjoining dinning room with a large table and chairs next to an incredible inglenook multi fuel stove. The very spacious living room comes with an original open fireplace and 32 inch LCD TV with basic free view channels, DVD and family films & free wi-fi internet connection. For modern comforts the cottage is equipped with gas central heating and electric heaters.

A large enclosed garden with stunning views to the Lledr valley has chairs, patio table + BBQ and space to play football. A selection of board games, books and maps are also stocked. Space for 3 cars plus secure storage for bikes, kayaks etc. We pride ourselves on ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and provide good quality modern furnishings throughout. Guests satisfaction lies at the heart of our service.

A good housekeeping deposit of £100 is required once a booking is made to ensure that the cottage is well maintained and left in the clean and tidy condition at the end of the stay. The deposit is returned in full within 5 working days of departure upon inspection and satisfactory condition of the cottage. Part or all the deposit will be retained if the cottage has been left in an unclean and untidy condition.

We also provide advice on places to go, activities and days out.

All prices quoted are inclusive (of electricity, coal for fires, bedlinen and towels and a welcome pack on arrival). No additional hidden costs whatsoever.

Up to 2 well behaved pets allowed for an additional charge of £20 for first pet and £10 for the second. The following rules are strictly applied.

1. Strictly no access to upstairs/bedrooms or sofas. A safety gate has been placed at the bottom of the stairs.

2. If left unattended at the cottage, dogs must be kept in the kitchen and not in the living room.

3. When there are guests staying at the adjoining cottage dogs must be kept on a lead in the gardens.

4. All dog excrement must be collected and binned daily and before guests depart.

5. Guests with dogs must ensure that the cottage is kept clean and tidy on departure with floors vacuumed and mopped accordingly.

The North Wales region

Snowdonia National Park is Wales' premier location for mountaineering, climbing, walking, sailing, boating and nature watching area. Numerous castles are to be found here - Caernarfon, Conwy, Rhuddlan, plus Dolwyddelan and Dolbadarn along with stunning beaches and coastlines. A new 800 miles coastal path will open in 2012 and had been heralded as the world number one attraction by Lonely Planet. An increasingly popular tourist hub there's something for everyone here. Famous visitors have included the naturalist Charles Darwin and mountain climber Edmund Hillary, who along with Tensing Norgay summitted Everest in 1953. Learn a few words of the oldest living language in Europe (Welsh) whilst savouring the many delights of rugged Welsh Wales.

Dolwyddelan

Tanycastell is located at the foot of Moel Siabod and therefore many walks and cycle routes can be started from the cottage. 4 miles east is Betws y Coed, North Wales' tourist hub. Beyond the Crimea pass is Blaenau Ffestiniog which is about to open a range of brand new exciting mountain bike trails. Half an hour away is Llandudno, North Wales' famous Victorian seaside resort. Harlech and Black Rock beaches are only 30 minutes away, or you could walk or take the train up to see the new Hafod Eryri cafe built on the summit of Snowdon. Numerous local festivals are held throughout the year including Wakestock.

The content of this review have to be challenged and corrected as they stem from a biased and subjective reviewer.

Firstly, the main bathroom. The situation regarding the main bathroom is highlighted in all booking enquiry documents sent to potential guests. This states:
“Bed linen for following: 1st Bedroom: 1 king size bed with en suite bathroom consisting of bath, over bath shower, washbasin, 2nd Bedroom double bed. 3rd Bedroom – bottom double bunk bed & single top bunk bed. 2nd bathroom consisting of toilet and sink located on main landing.”

Furthermore this reviewer never raised this issue before no, so I find it odd that it appears now.

Secondly, the situation with the TV, which was not working when the guest departed, had to be independently verified by an appropriate person to establish why it wasn't working. This happened during Easter which cause some delay. Once this was done all money due to the guest was returned. The amount reflected exactly what was used – as per the meter reading – and not a penny more. To imply that I'm trying to gain more money or withholding deposits' from guests is without basis and factually incorrect, and simply serves as a ploy to try and smear my character. It is also libellous.

We have welcomed hundreds of guests to our cottages over the last 6 years, the majority of whom have commented on our professional service. None have been as unreasonable as this reviewer who was beyond reproach in her attitude, manner and behaviour. Thankfully we rarely come across such people, and to be honest could well do without.

All previous guests can verify we provide a first rate, lovely, clean cottage. I have no doubt this will be reflected in future trip advisor reviews.
