"Great place, beautiful house."
Beautiful house, well equipped with everything you need. Enough room for 14 of us to sit for dinner, play games in the lounge with roaring open fire. All bedrooms are lovely most with ensuite bathrooms, with rooms at the top of the house which the kids loved. Everything you need for a get together with friends and family.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. We're glad you all enjoyed your stay despite the weather of early January! We do hope we'll be able to welcome you back again sometime in the future.

"Spacious, warm, clean, well fitted and lovely environment alround"
A real nice place to relax and enjoy this part of Wales. The house has a friendly feel and is warm and well looked after. Big enough for all to be away from each other if need be and to allow children to run wild, but controlled. Dogs have a field to run in and the local walks, including the sea, fully express the area. Lovely pub, local trains and small shop. Could have stayed forever. Thanks
Thank you very much for your warm words. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay over the Christmas period. We'd never have known that you'd let the children run wild as you left it so clean and tidy. You're very welcome to come again!

"Beautiful Pentre Bach"
A perfect place to introduce your new girlfriend/boyfriend to the whole family, lots of places for her/him to escape to it all gets too much with the Aunts, Uncles + Cousins. Lovely grounds, tidy and presentable house with amazing views + very close to the sea. Also really close to the secret (shh..) Blue Lake, magical. Highly recommended.
Many thanks for your kind review. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope that we'll be able to welcome you back to Pentre Bach again sometime.

"Very Grand and Luxurious"
Although the weather was not brilliant, Pentre Bach remained warm and comfortable. It was lovely to spend just 2 nights in such a beautiful, large house. Certainly was a treat and would highly recommend.
We also had Popty, the adjoining 4 bedroom cottage. This was ideal for our ever growing family, as it linked seamlessly to the main house.
Another bonus is that we were able to take 2 well behaved dogs :-) which was absolutely great, as not many folk allow animals!
Thank you for your lovely review. When Pentre Bach and Y Popty are booked together , they do indeed provide lots of space for an extended family. We do accept one pet per cottage. We hope we'll be able to welcome you all back again to Pentre Bach.

We stayed for a long weekend all 18 of us in Pentre Bach and Popty.
The house was very well appointed and equipped to a very good standard.
All rooms were warm and toasty and the log fire in the lounge was a lovely
feature enjoyed by all. The open sea views were an added bonus.
The weather was mixed, but we came fully kitted out for all eventualities.
Walk up to the Blue lake nearby is a must. - a real hidden gem !
Make sure you get directions from the owners.
We will be back ....
Thank you very much for your excellent review. It was a pleasure to welcome you and your extended family to Pentre Bach and hope that you'll all come back again soon!

"Lovely house for large groups, warm and cosy with great view."
This is a lovely large house suitable for holidaying with friends or extended family.
We spent a week in October and it was warm and cosy with plenty of seating in the lounge and a lovely log fire, a large dining table in the dining room and well equipped kitchen.
The beds were comfy with nice en-suites/bathrooms, and lots of hot water!
Great views and walking country. Would recommend the local train that goes along the coast, the house is walking distance to the station and it gives a break from driving on the windy Welsh roads. Also recommend the guided walk at RSPB Ynis-Hir Reserve down the coast.
Thank you very much for your complimentary review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and will recommend the guided walk to future guests. We hope we'll be able to welcome you or any of your party back to Pentre Bach in the future.

"Wonderful properties with excellent facilities and stunning views"
An wonderful venue for the Girlguiding Leaders Training Weekend.
Pentre Bach - an excellent property, the photos on the website do not do the house justice. The property was very clean and very well equipped. Comfortable accommodation with excellent views.
Y Popty - a very good cottage whether used with Pentre Bach as we did, or alone. Again very clean and very well equipped.
Without any hesitation - we will be booking again.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. Montgomeryshire Guide Leaders must be our Guests of the Year! You can all definitely come back again!

"A holiday to remember!"
Our family of 14 , aged 16 months to 72 have just come back from a wonderful week in Pentre Bach House. The house was much better than we imagined, extremely comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean… More

"Spoiled by the owner!"
9months after booking, and 8weeks before our arrival..we were asked for a damage deposit...how could we say no!The house was beautiful, couldn't fault it. We were asked to remove our footwear bef… More
We are disappointed to receive this review, especially after the exemplary 24 reviews from other guests.
We did indeed ask for a security deposit after the party had booked, as a few weeks before we'd had some problems with big groups, including a broken window. We explained this to the lady who booked and she was happy to comply as she told us that she had letting properties herself. We actually only asked for half the normal security deposit. She even asked for cleaning products to be left. Unfortunately these did not appear to have been touched. Our Terms and Conditions clearly state
3.A security deposit of £150 for the main house and £80 for each cottage booked is payable four weeks before your holiday or at the time of booking if within four weeks of arrival. Subject to the propery being returned to us in a good, clean condition the deposit will be returned to you within two weeks of the end of your stay. If there are any breakages, excessive cleaning and/or complaints from neighbours or other guests then reasonable costs will be taken from the deposit before it is refunded. In the event that the cost of putting right the property, owing to damage caused by or due to the negligence of the Hirer, exceeds the amount of security deposit Pentre Bach Holiday Cottages reserve the right to pursue the Hirer for the full costs involved.
We don't expect guests to leave it in the immaculate state that it was in when they arrived but we would expect food to be wiped off worktops and the inside of cupboards, we wouldn't expect to have to wash curry stains off dishes that were put away in cupboards or have to put away piles of dishes stacked up on draining boards. We would expect popcorn and soil to be cleaned up from under cushions and bark from the log basket that was all over the lounge carpet to be vacuumed up. We would expect litter from around the patio to be cleared up. Some towels were stained and had to be washed more than once. The cleaning took a lot longer than usual and we had to have the lounge carpet specially cleaned, therefore we retained a portion of the reduced security deposit that they paid. As for £300 a night, the house accommodates up to 16, which is often 4 families and I believe this was the case with this party so at around £75 a night per family, we believe this to be very reasonable.
We were staying in the separate bungalow that weekend, some distance from the main house but could not avoid passing by from time to time as we went about our normal routines and certainly did not intrude on this group's weekend in any way.
We're sorry that they were not happy with our hospitality or our response to the state that the house was left in. We did wonder why they were in such a hurry to leave at the end of their weekend!
