This end wing of Brynygwin 19th century country house is ideal for singles or couples. It is very private, nearly a full floor up with nobody underneath and only the roof and the sky above. You pass its kitchen and bathroom to enter its main studio-type room with its barrel-vaulted ceiling. Its sleeping area is up one end of its 25' length below a high-set round window which the sun shines through. Half-way down is the fireplace with open log fire and two easy chairs. The settee (convertible to a 4' single bed) and oak dining table face the tall arch-topped window with its views onto colourful shrubs, down across the garden and up through Scots pines to mountains and hills (including the famous Precipice Walk) the other side of the valley. Two large radiators ensure adequate warmth in the coldest of weathers and it is good to be able to retire to bed to the flickerings of the open log fire if that is preferred to the electric radiant!
Just 1 level mile from Dolgellau in the south of the Snowdonia National Park and nestling beneath the mighty mountain of Cadair Idris, this neo-classical country house, listed as of architectural interest, has stayed with the family that built it for over two centuries. Five acres of garden and fifteen of woodland invite exploration, games, barbecues and study of wildlife featuring birds, bats (SSSI), badgers and much else.
