Flat 2, Brynygwin Isaf
from £72 /night help
House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 14
Here is a place to combine gracious country house living with dedicated activity. Just 1 level mile from Dolgellau in the south of the Snowdonia National Park and nestling beneath the mighty mountain of Cadair Idris, this neo-classical country house, listed as of architectural interest, has stayed with the family that built it for over two centuries. Five acres of garden and fifteen of woodland invite exploration, games, barbecues and study of wildlife featuring birds, bats (SSSI), badgers, otters and much else. With views onto the garden and to hills the other side of the valley this central section of our country house has ready bed-space for 11 (2 family rooms and a double twin), and is readily expandable to 14, or reducible to 2 using just the first floor bedroom. Its combi-boiler heats the radiators and gives instant and limitless hot water as well as mains pressure to the shower over the cast-iron bath. The kitchen and living room/diner are usefully interconnected for large number meals, enough cutlery and crockery being provided for a total booking of both cottages and both flats. This flat has Wi-fi and the option of an open log fire with dry seasoned logs available at a favourable (to guests!) price.
Its location makes it ideal as a base for walking, climbing, canoeing, cycling, mountain-biking, miniature rail riding and much else.

The North Wales region
Situated in the quieter southern part of Snowdonia, the market town of Dolgellau is ringed by mountains best known of which is Cadair Idris, and is just 1.6 km from the head of the glorious Mawddach estuary whose Trail all the 16 km to the coast delights cyclists and walkers alike. Lakes, waterfalls and forests (like Coed y Brenin with its renowned mountain-biking centre) lie all around and it is centrally positioned for narrow-gauge railway lovers and for castle and historic house enthusiasts.

We were a group of 8 who stayed in the cottage for 1 night only. Gilbert, the owner of the property was an amazing and accommodating host. The property is so spacious and the views from the house were simply breadth-taking. The properly is ideally located near 3 waterfalls which were simply superb. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. Highly recommend.
