About the home

Milk Wood Bach, the perfect retreat for couples. modern & open plan with its beautiful living room, big woodburner and lush comfy sofas to cuddle up on. This light and airy room leads you through french doors onto the terrace where the huge hot tub awaits you and leads you into the lovely streamside garden with small pond and decked area overlooking the stream. The garden gets the sun all day long so you can enjoy a BBQ at any time, have a sundowner on the hammock, sheer bliss. With no street lights you can stargaze in comfort from the hot tub.

The log cabin is built to residentail standard , we lived there ourselves till April. Its fully heated and very modern. The huge bathroom has a steam/power shower enclosure, w.c. bidet etc. Opposite is the new sauna room with large sauna, plenty of room for 2 people. King bedroom with fantastic mattress, plenty of wardrobe space. Hairdryer, radio alarm. Off the centaral corridor a door leads into the huge main living room with big woodburner, full length heavy , drapes at the six big windows so its cosy and warm. Two big sofas to cuddle up on. All Sony T.V & audio equipment, blu ray player , proper Hi Fi speakers, WiFi works everywhere. Honesty Telephone.

Fully fitted kitchen with fridge freezer, dishwasher, micowave, double oven and plenty of glassware, china etc. The dining table is at the end of the main room so you can watch the birds in the woodland garden through the French doors. These lead you onto the massive tarrace with swing hammock seat, table, comfy outdoors chairs and the massive hot tub.

We have fantastic walks on the doorstep, mountains to climb, rivers to raft, mountain bike tracks, cycle routes and the best beaches in Wales are just 20 mins drive. So if you want an adventure holiday then ease your limbs in the tub or you just want to chill out, cuddle up and relax, this is the perfect place for you. We have 1 king bedroom but can sleep plus 1 on a sofa bed ( in main living room) so if you want to bring a teenager we can supply sofa bedding etc.

Milk Wood Bach is owned and personally run by Phil Thompson who also own Milk Wood & Wnion Wood Each log cabin, although very similar from the exterior is unique in its interior design. Furnished in boutique style, simple and understated with the emphasis on comfort. Your weekend break or holiday should be a home from home experience with great quality beds and beautiful surroundings. Each lodge has its own garden, the owners live close by on this exclusive small unique complex of private residential log cabin homes

Its the perfect holiday destination, whatever the weather; yes it sure can rain here, but thats whats keep it so beautiful.

No crowed beaches, let your dog run free.

The Dolgellau / Brithdir area

Direct from Milk Wood Bach you can take some great walks, the famous Torrent Walk starts in the village. The Precipice Walk is a must, you can see down the estuary to Barmouth Brithdir is a small village, alas no shops now like many villages. A great pub is 2 miles away at Cross Foxes so not far to go for a pint.

Dolgellau, 3 miles away is an old fashioned Welsh market town, full of individual shops and people. It has banks, two small supermarkets and the best hardware shop in the country. Lots of good little cafes and restaurants so no need to cook.

The famous Mawddach Trail starts from here where you can walk or cycle to Barmouth in safety along the old railway track. Pub on the way so refreshments are available Bala 15 mins drive has a magnificent lake and White Water Rafting can be booked a few miles away.

Barmouth is a must to visit, the old town meanders up steep narrow streets where you will find quaint cottages, best to walk as car space is limited. The harbour area has lots of bars and cafes wher you can enjoy local seafood. Why not take a boat trip or use the ferry to visit Fairbourne across the estuary. A Bollywood film star runs a very good restaurant here.

The beaches near barmouth are never crowed, even in peak summer and further up the coast we even have a naturist beach if you are felling like an all over tan.

“Peace and tranquility in wonderful surroundings and first class accommodation” A wonderful weekend in a first class luxurious lodge. The facilities were second to none, the owner has thought of everything to make your stay a home from home experience. The lodge was immaculate and the garden and surroundings just beautiful. The only sound is the singing birds and trickle of water from the stream....paradise!! The hot tub is amazing....perfect place for a relaxing stay. We definitely recharged our batteries and will be back again very soon.

“Total [--]chillaxed[--]holiday” Lovely place. Very peaceful and tranquil and was just what we needed after a very busy year. Would recommend this lodge to anybody who just wants to 'get away' and relax.

“Home from home” Third time staying within last year , think husband would move in permanent if he could . Peaceful , lovely area , lots of different walks , highly recommend The Last Inn in Barmouth , best burger and chips . Erica and Phil have thought of everything , lodge beautiful , clean and comfortable . Best and most relaxing two week holiday in a long time . Looking forward to returning ASAP

“amazing property with all you will need.” Truly amazing property with all you need for a good stay,only downside we could find was that the heating was a little dissapointing as there was no heat in the bathroom(towel rail did not work or would be inadequate) ,you could go out and buy logs and kindle for the log fire as you are only allowed to use a fair amount that is provided? A stay in the winter months would be for the stout hearted as there is no heating in the bedrooms.A little thought would put this on our list of must stays for north wales stays. Response: Thankyou for your reveiw, it is a truly amazing place. I think I need to clarify the heating situation though. Milk Wood Bach opened this summer . The first bookings were transfered from Dumbledore, which we had sold and guests were offered the upgraded accomadation or a refund,. As it was summer we did not put in bedroom or bathroom heating! We had lived at the property during the winter of 2010/11 when we had minus 19 degrees and were never cold so did not consider that heating would be needed till later in the year. In Septemeber, when the sauna was installed, bedroom and bathroom heating was installed to keep you all cosy. We provide all logs for our guests, they were restricted at Milk Wood Bach to begin with for gusets who had paid a lower rate for Dumbledore. We include towels/ bathrobes, sauna towels/ hot tub/ wifi/ sauna/ logs / heating/ honesty phone. Its a truly great place
