Dol Adda’s is set in a peaceful, private and elevated rural location, 2 miles from Dolgellau. A field runs straight from the garden up to the hill, where, from the top, there are magnificent views across to Cader Idris mountains, over the Mawddach estuary. The property’s wooded areas, terrace and lawns are large enough to explore and enjoy as an entity, reaching almost out of view of the house.
At the foot of Cader Idris, this large self catering house provides an excellent location to explore the Mid and North Wales coast and countryside. The pretty, charismatic town of Dolgellau is just a few minutes’ drive from Dol Adda and offers plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs and more than 200 listed buildings – more than any other town in Wales.
Dol Adda is set in southern Snowdonia, an area that is historically important for its gold mines from which rings are made for royalty. It also offers unrivalled scenery, low and high level walks that include the Mawddach Trail and Cader Idris and beautiful sandy beaches nearby including Barmouth, Fairbourne and Aberdyfi.
Amongst the numerous attractions in the area are the mountain biking centre and Go Ape at Coed y Brenin, Fairbourne and Tal-y-llyn railways and the Centre for Alternative Technology. Another must see is the majestic Harlech Castle (World Heritage site) whilst Corris Craft Centre, King Arthur's Labyrinth and the RSPB Bird Reserve at Penmaenpool also offer great days out.
