The North Wales region

There are 3 local sandy beaches - Towyn, Aberdovey and Barmouth. The seaside town of Aberystwyth is about 45 minutes away and well worth a visit.

The Mawddach trail for walkers and cyclists is a route from Dolgellau -Barmouth (9 miles each way). There are also mountains in the area to include Cadr Idris and Snowdon. King Arthurs Labyrinth (caves) and craft shops are based at Corris which is very near the cabin.

The Red Lion pub in Dinas Mawddwy is a short walk from the cabin and they serve very good home cooked food at very reasonable prices. If you want something a bit more special (a bit expensive) The Crossfoxes on the way to Dolgellau is lovely. There is a good cafe that serves hot meals in the Corris Craft Centre/King Arthurs Labyrinth. Merrion Mill has a good cafe and snacks. Brigands Inn also do hot meals.

There is a Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth. There is a lovely childrens park/outdoor gym in Dolgellau. Lots to see and do for everyone.

The scenery on the way to Dolgellau is beautiful. Lots of mountains and waterfalls.

The cabin is set in the little village of Dinas Mawddwy in mid Wales on the road to Dolgellau. The area is a wealth of mountains.

Turning left outside the cabin, on foot follow the private drive past the turning circle and into the woods you will end up in Dinas Mawddwy village and a small childrens park is on the left hand side which is very handy. There is also a large grass playing area just down from the village by the river.

Lots of tourist information leaflets/maps are supplied at the cabin.

PLEASE NOTE: There are no shops in the village. There is a shop at the garage in Mallwyd which sells the essentials.

Tesco, Sainsburys and other shops are located in Welshpool, A Co-op is located in Dolgellau, Machynlleth and Barmouth.
