Northern Holland region

The Westerkwartier is the name given to this area in the Dutch province of Groningen. It borders with the Province Fryslan, in the past the area was part of Fryslan. The Frisian language is still spoken in the western part of this area. The biggest town in the Westerkwartier is Leek.

On the Dutch countrysite in the North of Holland life is not in a hurry. Walking and cycling are nice ways to discover the way the farmers work. Close to the Waddensee, a see which you can run over the bottom twice in 24 hours it's rich in wildlife. Small villages and ancient churches rest for more then 1000 years. Worth to visit when you like to avoid the touristic way of celebrating holiday
