Enquire nowThe County Kerry region
County Kerry is a paradise for walkers. Startling scenery and nature around each corner, geology, climate, flora and fauna, and man have conspired to write this rich story which you can read from the landscape as you walk. The county is rich in culture and has a long and colourful history. The Irish language is strong here, as are the traditions of music, literature and sport. The rugged countryside and miles of coastline offer opportunities for all types of activities.
Within a 1 minute walk from the guesthouse we have two traditional Irish pubs - Fitzgerald's Junction Bar and O'Neills Railway Tavern. Traditional music is played almost nightly during the Summer. The Railway Tavern is renowned for its traditional Irish music sessions and its singing dog. A great place to relax any time of the year. The village is also home to two fine restaurants - Ashe's Bar and Restaurant and The Creamery Restaurant.
The Dingle / Camp area
Within a 5 minute walk from the guesthouse there are miles of golden, sandy beach. Ideal for a leisurely stroll, relaxing swim, or quiet spot of fishing. Just 10 minutes back the road is the Maharees peninsula which is world renowned for its surfing. Surfing, diving, and boating equipment and lessons are available at very competitive rates. There are also plenty of beautiful rivers for anyone keen on fishing.
Walk the Dingle Way. Only 2 minutes walk from the guesthouse. During a week's rambles over The Dingle Way, you'll encounter panoramic vistas of sea, mountain and islands, a profusion of unique birds, plants and unspoiled landscape. You will also see an astonishing array of ancient sites spanning 6000 years.
Climb Caherconree Mountain. Only 5 minutes drive from the guesthouse. It is said the Curoi Mac Daire had his fortress here at Caherconree. The wall across the promontory is what remains. Curoi was able to set the walls of his fortress spinning so nobody could get at the gateway at night. Mount Brandon is only 25 minutes away and Carrauntoohil is within a 45 minute drive.
The guesthouse is located within a 45 minute drive from 7 top quality golf courses. A brief description of the courses in the region are given on our website.
