Located on the banks of the river Rance, in the heart of Dinan's historic port area , Millefleurs is a comfortable and stylish ground floor apartment. With a garden giving direct access to the river and tow path , the apartment is perfectly placed to enjoy medieval DInan. A short walk across the old stone bridge brings you to a number of good riverside restaurants,bistros,cafes and a good baker.
From the apartment , you can follow the riverside path into the tranquil Breton countryside to the beautiful village of Léhon with its ancient Abbey and cobbled streets . Crossing the old bridge, a short walk up the steep Jerzual hill brings you into the perfectly preserved centre of medieval Dinan. The apartment has a living area overlooking the garden with well equipped kitchen ,and two bedrooms, one with a double bed , one with two singles.
We have installed satellite TV (Free to view UK channels) and there is free WIFI internet available so you can check your E Mails when you are away!

The apartment is part of a historic stone house dating from the early 18th Century which has now been converted into two apartments. Access is from a quiet side street, leading to a communal hall area ,with a separate entrance to the apartment which is on the ground floor.
Entering the apartment, there is a well equipped corner kitchen and living area with a Breton granite fireplace and log burner. Bathroom with bath, WC and basin. One double bedroom and one bedroom with two single beds. The second bedroom ( two single beds) is more suitable for children than adults ( it is modestly sized!)

The back garden is accessed from the rear of the apartment, there is a small grassy area, flower beds , garden furniture and a barbecue available in the summer. At the end of the garden is a gate giving direct access to the tow path and river.
Cycle hire is available on the port of Dinan for 12 Euros a day , less for children , canoes and kayaks can also
be hired from a club which is very close to the apartment. There is a very good heated open air swimming pool at Léhon.

A 25% deposit secures a booking, the balance of the rental is due 8 weeks before your holiday. We can supply the following options if required:-

Brittany is an area of breathtaking natural beauty. The long coastline is a succession of rocky headlands, wild cliffs, island studded bays and beautiful sandy beaches. Inland is equally attractive. Fairytale castles, historic towns and ancient megaliths are sprinkled through the gentle hilly countryside. A wide variety of interests are well catered for , including golf, fishing, all sorts of watersports, hiking and cycling. The region is easily accessible from the UK with ferry ports at St Malo , Roscoff or Cherbourg and with Ryanair providing very low cost flights to Dinard.
The Dinan area
Dinan is perhaps the place where Medieval Brittany seems most alive and most real. Behind the ramparts the old centre is a network of cobbled streets, timber framed buildings housing shops, cafés and restaurants. Rue Du Jerzual and Rue Du Petit Fort lead through one of the ancient town gates down to the Port, winding between two perfect rows of restored and protected artisans' houses.
On the Port you can sit and watch the world go by from one of the riverside cafes and restaurants, take a boat trip to the old citadel port of St. Malo or hire a self drive boat and explore the delightful river Rance. The more energetic may prefer to walk or cycle up or down the towpath. Ten minutes upstream is the picturesque village of Lehon with its own castle, twelfth century abbey and open air heated swimming pool complex.
There is a good number of excellent golf courses a short drive away from the house, including Dinard (founded in 1887), St Malo, Pen Guen (St Cast) and Sables D'Or at Cap Frehel. Perhaps the best course is located at Pléneuf Val André, which should be on every golfers 'must play' list.

Dinan is easily reached from the port of St Malo , an easy 40 minute drive, or the nearby airport of Dinard about 20 minutes away - Ryanair offer very low cost flights from the UK . The Ferry ports of Roscoff , Cherbourg and Caen are all within 2 hours easy drive on France's well maintained road network.

We had a wonderful time - the house is well decorated and equipped, and its location is fantastic. Having the river at the back of the house, and a short, although challenging, walk into Dinan from the front door. Jeremy and Julia are excellent hosts, there if you need them, and leave you in peace if you don't. It truly is one of the nicest places we've stayed. We would definitely like to come again. |
