About the home

Located on the banks of the river Rance, in the heart of Dinan's historic port area , Fleur De Lys is a comfortable and stylish first floor apartment with beautiful river views. With two bedrooms and a bed settee, ideal for a family of up to 5 , the downstairs apartment can also be rented at the same time for larger parties.
A short walk across the old stone bridge brings you to Dinan's historic port area, where can be found a number of popular riverside restaurants,bistros,cafes and a good baker.
From the apartment , you can follow the riverside path into the tranquil Breton countryside to the beautiful village of Léhon with its ancient Abbey and cobbled streets . Crossing the old bridge, a short walk up the steep Jerzual hill brings you into the perfectly preserved centre of medieval Dinan ( Or you can let the train take the strain - there's a regular tourist train link during the summer)
The apartment has a living area overlooking the river with well equipped kitchen ,and two bedrooms each with a double bed. A bed settee in the lounge provides further sleeping for one or two.
We have installed satellite TV (Free to view UK channels) and there is free WIFI internet available so you can stay connected during your stay.

The apartment is part of a historic stone house dating from the 18th Century which has now been converted into two apartments. Access is from a side street, leading to a communal hall area , stairs lead to the apartment with a separate front door.
Entering the apartment, there is a well equipped corner kitchen and living area with beautiful views to the river, the old bridge and port area. Separate WC. Bathroom with bath,shower and basin. Bedroom one with double bed, bedroom two with a double single bed..Sofa bed in living room which sleeps one comfortably.

Further details outdoors:
Cycle hire is available on the port a short walk away during the summer season. There is also a cycle shop in the town centre which offers bike hire all year. Prices are between 12 and 15 Euros a day , Bikes can be booked in advance if required. You can then escape the traffic , and cycle along the river and enjoy the surrounding countryside.
Canoe and boat hire are also available on the port.
Free car parking is available just outside the apartment,
Please note, Fleur de Lys does not have a garden.

A 25% deposit secures a booking, the balance of the rental is due 8 weeks before your holiday. We can supply the following options if required:-

- Bed linen and towels - £15 per person per week,
- Cot/ Highchair.Baby Bath - £20
- End of Stay Clean - £30

Conditions

We ask for a 25% deposit to secure the booking, the balance is payable 8 weeks before your holiday. A £200 refundable damage deposit is payable 2 weeks before you arrive, this is refunded within 1 week of your departure.

The house will be clean and tidy upon your arrival, we ask you leave it in the same condition when you leave, or you can opt for our cleaning service.

The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region

Brittany is an area of breathtaking natural beauty. The long coastline is a seemingly endless succession of rocky headlands, wild cliffs, island studded bays and beautiful sandy beaches. Inland is equally attractive. Fairytale castles, historic towns and ancient megaliths are sprinkled through the gentle hilly countryside. A wide variety of interests are well catered for , including golf, fishing, all sorts of watersports, hiking and cycling. The region is easily accessible from the UK with ferry ports at St Malo , Roscoff or Cherbourg and with Ryanair providing very low cost flights to Dinard.

The Dinan area

Dinan is perhaps the place where Medieval Brittany seems most alive and most real. Behind the ramparts the old centre of town vibrates with life. The sagging, cantilevered timber fronted dwellings leaning crazily on each other, still house merchants, though their trades may have changed. Rue Du Jerzual and Rue Du Petit Fort lead through one of the ancient town gates down to the Port, winding between two perfect rows of restored and protected artisans' houses.
On the Port you can sit and watch the world go by from one of the riverside cafes and restaurants, take a boat trip to the old citadel port of St. Malo or hire a self drive boat and explore the delightful river Rance. The more energetic may prefer to walk or cycle up or down the towpath. Ten minutes upstream is the picturesque village of Lehon with its own castle, twelfth century abbey and open air heated swimming pool complex.
There is a good number of excellent golf courses a short drive away from the house, including Dinard (founded in 1887), St Malo, Pen Guen (St Cast) and Sables D'Or at Cap Frehel. Perhaps the best course is located at Pléneuf Val André, which should be on every golfers 'must play' list. As the language can sometimes be a barrier , we can liaise with the course on your behalf and book tee times for you so your golf is all arranged before you arrive.

Dinan is easily reached from the port of St Malo or the nearby airport of Dinard ( Ryanair offer very low cost flights from the UK) , both are within about 40 minutes drive. The Ferry ports of Roscoff , Cherbourg and Caen are all within 2 hours easy drive on France's well maintained road network.

“Fleur De Lys & Lanvallay turns a holiday into a honeymoon” We picked the perfect location, every morning the bedroom shutters were opened to reveal the beautiful scenery, we had breakfast looking out towards other old buildings on the river and each afternoon we would wander over the water across the bridge to the bakery or the cafe and just enjoyed being in that part of France. This original tudor timber house was exceptionally well cared for with obvious owner pride, clean and comfortable. Parking was no problem, the bed comfortable enough, bathroom clean & kitchen stocked with any utensil you may need . We loved our 5 nights at Fleur de Lys and its location great for exploring futher afield. Our only negative is the steep entry steps not suitable for people with stair case issues

Normal usage of electricity/gas is included within the rent between May to August. Between September and April, elec/gas is recharged at the end of your stay, this ranges between 15 and 35 euros depending on consumption.
