A wonderful location and perfect base for exploring Brittany. Oak beamed cottage, comfortably furnished with the benefit of a private secluded garden bordering a magnificent forest. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge/diner, large separate kitchen. Within easy reach of superb sandy beaches, golf courses, fishing and numerous tourist attractions including the magnificent medieval city of Dinan. 3 miles from sandy beach. Quiet location, ideal for walking and cycling, yet only minutes from the popular tourist city of Dinan with its medieval charm, historic buildings and riverside restaurants. The cottage is situated in a quiet lane with no through traffic, ideal for children. It has a secluded garden to the rear, front garden and a large private garden (ideal for games or just relaxing) adjacent to the forest.The ground floor has a spacious oak beamed lounge/diner with a log burner and satellite TV (UK freeview); a large kitchen, with gas oven, microwave, fridge, automatic washing machine and breakfast bar; shower room with shower, washbasin and wc. The first floor has one double bedroom and bedroom with bunk beds (3ft wide, suitable adults as well and children) and bathroom/wc. On the second floor is a spacious double bedroom. Travel cot. All floors have heaters.Duvets, blankets and pillows are provided. The garden is equipped with table and chairs and BBQ. If required, bed linen can be hired.Private parking for two carsThe cottage is set at the centre of a vast tourist region of great merit. The "Emerald Coast" with its superb sandy beaches, the famous Mont-Saint-Michel and a variety of chateaux and castles are all within easy reach. The magnificent Forest of Coetquen, inhabited by deer amongst other wildlife, borders the cottage and is ideal for walking and cycling. Ancient rocks and lakes add to the adventure of discovery. Guided walks take place during the summer.Explore the clean, uncrowded beaches of Brittany. The nearest sandy beach is only three miles away, on the River Rance. Coastal beaches are 20 mins drive and there are many to choose between, ranging from vast stretches of sand to rocky coves. Cancale is famous for its oyster farm and seafood restaurants.Boats and canoes can be hired on the River Rance at the Port of Dinan. Take a trip to St Malo and admire the stunning scenery or explore the canal which leads to Rennes and then on to southern brittany.Nearby lakes offer watersports such as windsurfing, catamarans, dinghy sailing, rowing boats and pedalos.The village of St Helen, less than 1km from the cottage, has a tennis court and well stocked competition fishing lake.In the summer months local villages put on a variety of festivals and fetes, ranging from concerts, ancient vehicle shows, cycle races to traditional craft shows and these are highly recommended. The Fete de Ble (festival of wheat) in nearby Pleudihen is a truly magnificent example with traditional folk dancing, circus acts, wheat threshing using ancient and modern machinery, weaving, cider making and other activities too numerous to mention. Some of these festivals are free to attend, others charge just a small fee. The Fete des Remparts takes place in Dinan every two years, the next being in July 2016. This is a celebration of Dinan's medieval history and the whole city is decorated and transported back in time, with jousting spectacles amongst the many events.There are many superb golf courses in the area. The 18 hole Golf Club des Ormes and Saint Malo Golf Club are within 15 minutes drive. The 18 hole par 68 course of Golf Club de Pen-Guen is located between Saint Malo and Cap Frehel, with its clubhouse overlooking the beach.There are numerous attractions for children, ranging from water parks, zoos, go karting, aquariums and swimming pools. In the summer holidays local villages hold various sporting competitions and activities which visitors are welcome to join.

The Brittany region
Situated in St Helen, the property is ideally situated being only 3 miles from the beautiful River Rance and its lovely sandy beaches. With the Forest of Coetquen right next door, this is a wonderful place for nature lovers, cyclists and ramblers.
Dinan and the Rance valley is a special area, with much to see. Local festivals are plentiful and well worth visiting.
There is much to explore, from chateaux and castles to wonderful unspoilt beaches.
The cottage is located beside the Forest of Coetquen, in the village of St Helen, only five minutes drive from Dinan, a magnificent medieval city, steeped in history. Dinan is one of the finest cities in Brittany, one of only two in France awarded the title "City of Art and Culture" and offers a vast variety of restaurants, boutiques and craft shops, where various craftsmen can be seen practising their traditional skills, romanesque and gothic churches, a castle and museum, together with beautiful gardens and a weekly market. The PORT OF DINAN offers pleasant walks along the towpath, boat trips and canoeing on the River Rance, or you can just relax in one of the numerous riverside cafes or restaurants. The village of ST HELEN, less than a mile from the cottage, has a bar and shop selling bread and daily provisions, a tennis court, boules pitch and a hard court play area. There is a well stocked fishing lake which holds regular competitions within walking distance from the cottage.
The FOREST OF COETQUEN is home to wonderful wildlife including deer and wild boar, has miles of marked walkways and cycle paths, ancient monoliths and a lake.
The River Rance is only 5 km from the cottage. This is a beautiful river which runs from Dinan to St Malo. You can hire canoes, motorboats and enjoy the wonderful walks and enjoy the spectacular scenery.
Cobac Park is nearby and has around thirty different activities for the whole family to enjoy: roller-coaster ride, merry-go-round, train, rope bridge, and 10 waterchutes.
Several large supermarkets can be found within a few miles.
