Val Rive is situated in the quaint quartier of Léhon in the historic town of Dinan , one of the best preserved medieval towns in France. The setting of Val Rive is very picturesque overlooking a medieval toll bridge over the river Rance from where a cobbled street leads to the 9th Century Abbey and ancient ruined Chateau of Lehon . Dinan town centre can be accessed on foot within 15 minutes or by car in 5. Riverside paths lead into the tranquil Breton countryside perfect for walking or cycling.

The apartment is well furnished and equipped to a high standard. Pleasant views from all windows and delightful shared gardens. Off road parking by the house. This house is ideal for family and friends who want to be independent but together on one site.

Brandilly has just had a brand new kitchen fitted this year.

The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region

Brittany is an area of breathtaking natural beauty. The long coastline is a seemingly endless succession of rocky headlands, wild cliffs, island studded bays and beautiful sandy beaches. Inland is equally attractive. Castles, historic towns and attractive cottages are sprinkled through the gentle hilly countryside. Brittany recognises the value of its beautiful environment and protects it's heritage of historic buildings and towns.

At the same time it has a vibrant social and cultural life with many music events , large and small. A wide variety of other interests are well catered for , including golf, fishing, all sorts of watersports, hiking and cycling. The region is easily accessible from the UK with ferry ports at St Malo , Roscoff or Cherbourg and with Ryanair providing very low cost flights to Dinard.

The Dinan / Lehon area

Situated very close to Dinan, Lehon retains it's own identity and character. Nestling by the river Rance, the town grew up by the 9th Century Abbey and 12th Century Norman Castle , now restored. The riverside path just outside Val Rive leads into tranquil countryside , a perfect place to take a picnic , unwind and watch the wildlife of this unspoilt region. Lehon has an attractive bar and bistro offering traditional French cuisine and a bakery.
An open air heated swimming pool can be found a short walk away and is a great place to visit at any time of the year.

Dinan is close by , and offers an unspoilt medieval town centre , plenty of reasonably priced restaurants and the opportunity to browse the wares of artisans and artists. Behind the ramparts the old centre of town vibrates with life. The sagging, cantilevered timber fronted dwellings leaning crazily on each other, still house merchants, though their trades may have changed. Rue Du Jerzual and Rue Du Petit Fort lead through one of the ancient town gates down to the Port, winding between two perfect rows of restored and traditional houses.
On the Port you can sit and watch the world go by from one of the riverside cafes and restaurants, take a boat trip to the old citadel port of St. Malo or hire a self drive boat and explore the delightful river Rance.
There is a good number of excellent golf courses a short drive away from the house, including Dinard (founded in 1887), St Malo, Pen Guen (St Cast) and Sables D'Or at Cap Frehel. Perhaps the best course is located at Pléneuf Val André, which should be on every golfers 'must play' list. As the language can sometimes be a barrier , we can liaise with the course on your behalf and book tee times for you so your golf is all arranged before you arrive.

Dinan is easily reached from the port of St Malo or the nearby airport of Dinard ( Ryanair offer very low cost flights from the UK) , both are within 40 minutes drive. The Ferry ports of Roscoff , Cherbourg and Caen are all within 2 hours easy drive on France's well maintained road network.

“The owners could not have been more helpful” We had booked the house Le Pintadeau but unfortunately on arriving, David and Victoria advised that the boiler had just broken down. We were offered a complete tour of all their apartments and houses and allowed us to pick the apartment of our choice as the boiler wasn't going to be fixed for a couple of days. We decided to stay in their apartment 'Leonardo' which was perfect; light and bright with a modern kitchen and bathroom. David and Victoria couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating and even offered us a bottle of cider to help ease us into the Normandy way of life! Would definitely recommend staying in one of their apartments.

“A comfortable, charming and picturesque place to stay” We had a car but found that we walked everywhere and found 4 different ways to walk to Dinan. We 'lived' in the village buying bread and croissants locally and ate at the local restaurant which was charming including a candle on my pudding on my birthday! We explored the little village of Lehon - the fort the Abbey, the church, the lock up the river.The bathroom and shower in Vale Rive Monet were the best we encountered in our 5 weeks away. The apartment was very comfortable, parking easy, loads of good books to read and we'd recommend it for a peaceful holiday.

“Beautiful location, excellent accommodation and in walking distance of good restaurants” The accommodation is excellent, it is a beautiful location, rural but in walking distance of the town and the many restaurants including an excellent one just around the corner from the apartment. The surrounding coastline is a short drive in the car and great for walking.

“Exquisite location in charming French village” We stayed in an apartment in Val Rive in June 2010, perfect weather in Brittainy at this time of year. Lehon is a beautiful 3km stroll south of mediavel Dinan along the River Rance which flows out at St Malo. Val Rive is located right on the river bank facing the old stone bridge. Although a picturesque village to explore, facilities are limited. There is a good restaurant nearby and patisserie. Supermarket is located a few kilometres away in Lanvally or in Dinan. A vehicle is necessary to get around. Dinan is a great place to visit and explore. The apartment itself was large and well equipped although we never got the hang of the washing machine. We loved sitting out in the garden watching people cross the bridge and gasp as they discovered this most beautiful village.

“Perfect location for exploring countryside by bike or canoe” My husband, teenage son and I had a lovely week's stay at Val Rive - it was a last minute booking and turned out to be perfect. Peaceful location in a small suburb of Dinan, walking distance to the walled town of Dinan, and a 25 km cycle from Dinard and the ocean. My husband and son rented a canoe one day and canoed on the Rance River, picking blackberries, while I shopped in Dinan. We visited a number of nearby towns. The village of Lehon is lovely, with an historic bridge, community pool, one good restaurant, and an Abbey which had a series of organ concerts the week we were in town. Only disappointment was that the Patisserie closed the day after we arrived for their annual vacation! Oh well, we found great treats further afield. Apartment is very well equipped for cooking, full sized fridge, convection microwave and two large bedrooms. Nigel was super understanding and accommodated an overseas banking transaction that no doubt had him pulling his hair out. I would recommend to anyone looking for a low key break in the French countryside.

“Great Location” Great holiday here spent cycling N. Brittany. Shame about the weather but the flat location was excellent. Due to a double booking/mix-up we were offered the owner's apartment rather than one of the advertised ones. Possibly because of this the cleaning hadn't been done well, and some things like the lack of a stand-up shower and no curtains on one of the bedroom windows (unfortunately right opposite the street light) let it down a little. Thoroughly recommend The Marmite around the corner - best food of the week here. Great cycle route up a disused railway track up to Dinard discovered, and loved the coast around Cancale etc.

“Wonderful characteristic property in charming and tranquil location ideally placed for exploring Brittany and Normandy.” This is as absolutely charming property on the edge of the quaint village village of Lehon and has its own castle, restored medieval abbey, quaint church and stone bridge worthy of painting or photography. The village has a Tabac/bar a restaurant, and boulangerie. Lehon is situated about a mile outside the medieval market town of Dinan with its timber framed and stone buildings. Hypermarkets are about 3 miles away, and we found offered the best fuel prices we saw in the whole of our time in France, everywhere else was at least 10c more expensive. The property itself is converted from a large house into individual apartments and offers spacious accommodation for a family of four. The apartment is tastefully decorated with feature stone walls, and pleasant prints in the kitchen/living room. There is a modern kitchen which includes a dishwasher, fridge-freezer, hob and microwave, but no oven, (who wants to cook on holiday anyway)? The living room has a sofa big enough for three, and there is also an armchair. We found the sofa unsuitable for longer periods of viewing to due too its low profile (you can't lie back on it as the back of the sofa is only about 18" higher than the seat cushions). The TV is a modern LCD, which picks up the local French channels, however the landlord has also installed SKY satellite which gives you access to the Freeview channels we get here in the UK i.e BBC, ITV, E4, Film4, and UK radio stations. The property has its own off-street parking but we found we had to park in the public spaces opposite, adjacent to the river on occasions. The bedrooms have plenty of storage and bed-side lockers with lamps stylish curtains and bed linen. The bathroom has a modern suite consisting of shower cubicle with pan style shower head making showering an absolute pleasure. There is also the WC pan and wash hand basin with mixer taps. The bathroom is finished in Travatino marble tiles to the walls and a rich blue ceramic tiling to the floor. The only downside was that the only curtain in the bathroom was a net curtain which affords no privacy considering the apartment was on the ground floor, and other residents pass the courtyard facing window when accessing their apartments. Were this property to have a more comfortable sofa and total privacy on the bathroom I would have given this property a rating of "excellent", however I would still return here despite those two issues.

“Stunning location, beautiful property and friendly people... what more could you ask for?” Val Rive is truly one of my favourite places in the world to visit. I have stayed there a few times now and it never grows old. Settled in the quaint little village of Lehon, the house itself is comfortable, homely and well-kitted out. It is just around the corner from the local restaurant the "Marmite" (which serves brilliant food at a good price), the village swimming pool and a magnificent abbey. It is also within walking distance of the medieval town of Dinan which is a pleasure to visit... ramparts, cobbled roads and a bustling and friendly ambiance. The food in the area is great - you particularly get nice seafood from the coast (I for one love the mussels). I could not recommend staying here more and look forward to my next visit.

“Great accommodation , lovely location” Very well equipped, easily accessible 2nd floor apartment overlooking the river Rance. Close to Dinan, ideal for walks along the river.
