The Brittany region

Brittany is one of the most beautiful regions in France, with a long attractive coastline made up of beautiful sandy beaches, dramatic headlands and peaceful coves. Along the coast, you can find a series of seaside towns and villages, each with their own charms. Just south of the ferry port of St Malo is Dinan, one of Brittany's best preserved medieval towns with a wealth of timber framed merchant's houses and a network of cobbled streets.

Inland is equally attractive, with peaceful countryside where you can find traditional Breton villages, chapels and market towns.

The cottage is in peaceful countryside , a couple of minutes drive from Corseul , a small Breton town with a bakery , bar and shop. Medieval Dinan can be reached in about 10 minutes by car - here you can find an unspoilt historic centre with many fine half timbered buildings which now are the home of bakeries, independent shops and artists galleries. The town is surrounded by impressive stone ramparts and there is also a well preserved castle. There is a good selection of restaurants , cafés and bistros catering for all budgets.

The pretty port area is well worth a visit - here you can hire a boat or a bike and explore the river Rance, or simply sit at a riverside café and watch the world go by.

The North Brittany coast is about a 30 minute drive north - here you can enjoy some beautiful , safe family beaches and explore the seaside towns and villages of Dinard , St Briac and Lancieux. The walled centre of St Malo is also worth exploring - a good selection of fish restaurants is found here, as well as long sandy beaches.

"A great place to stay for a tranquil rest, yet close to fab Dinan."

Rented through a letting agency which went very smoothly and they answered any queries through email and phone promptly. Before we set off for France they had sent us directions and any info regarding entry to the property.
The gite is the lower part of the property and is surrounded by other outbuildings (some dating from the 15th Century!) and it's large garden (The Meadow). Although not fenced in it is all safe ground and surrounded by fields/agricultural land. The gite itself is well equipped and beds etc brand new. Spacious kitchen and living room (perhaps the bunk room is a little tight but it is only for sleeping in after all). Satellite TV, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge freezer - all mod cons. Linen available to hire and comfortable.
Only a few minutes out of Dinan - supermarkets, McDonalds on way in, lovely medieval city with lots to explore. Dinan has lots to do with lovely cobbled streets, stalls, restaurants and weekly market (Thurs). Beaches only 25/30mins away, big beaches, leave plenty of time to explore and walk the miles of area that is left once tide drains out. Busy areas/ larger towns take a while to park in e.g. St.Malo and Dinard but worth it. Mont St Michel 35/40 mins drive and so worth a day out to explore. Great area, can't recommend it enough. As a family of 4 we had plenty to do in our 10 days and still didn't see it all!!
Only down side was the main double bed which was too hard for our liking but that just a personal thing.
