The Brittany region
Brittany is one of the most beautiful regions in France, with a long attractive coastline made up of beautiful sandy beaches, dramatic headlands and peaceful coves. Along the coast, you can find a series of seaside towns and villages, each with their own charms. Just south of the ferry port of St Malo is Dinan, one of Brittany's best preserved medieval towns with a wealth of timber framed merchant's houses and a network of cobbled streets.
Inland is equally attractive, with peaceful countryside where you can find traditional Breton villages, chapels and market towns.
The cottage is in peaceful countryside , a couple of minutes drive from Corseul , a small Breton town with a bakery , bar and shop. Medieval Dinan can be reached in about 10 minutes by car - here you can find an unspoilt historic centre with many fine half timbered buildings which now are the home of bakeries, independent shops and artists galleries. The town is surrounded by impressive stone ramparts and there is also a well preserved castle. There is a good selection of restaurants , cafés and bistros catering for all budgets.
The pretty port area is well worth a visit - here you can hire a boat or a bike and explore the river Rance, or simply sit at a riverside café and watch the world go by.
The North Brittany coast is about a 30 minute drive north - here you can enjoy some beautiful , safe family beaches and explore the seaside towns and villages of Dinard , St Briac and Lancieux. The walled centre of St Malo is also worth exploring - a good selection of fish restaurants is found here, as well as long sandy beaches.
