The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region

The white sandy beaches and rugged scenery of Brittany's Cotes d'Emeraude and spectacular Mont St. Michel are only minutes away. Whatever recreation you're looking for...exploring monasteries and castles, mysterious standing stones, quaint villages and old mills, golf, riding, cycling, river cruising, shopping for traditional Breton porcelain...you'll find it right here in unspoiled Brittany.

Dinan area

Historic Dinan, high on the hill, with its three ancient monasteries, castle and picturesque old Port below has been a town of traders, craftsmen and fairs since the Middle Ages...today, the perfect location to explore the history, culture and customs of this unspoiled region of France. We invite you to walk down the most popular cobbled street in Dinan, 'Rue du Petit Fort' (just outside our back door), through the old town gate, 'Porte du Jerzual', past numerous half-timbered houses, colourful artisan shops and restaurants to the old Port of Dinan, or take a leisurely stroll along the medieval ramparts with commanding views of the town and countryside ending at the 14th century 'Chateau' and 'Jardin des Anglais'. You will soon discover why Charles Dickens found Dinan so remarkable.

Villa des Remparts is located in the popular 'Districte Historique' of Dinan where parking is very restricted in favour of pedestrians; however there is a large parking space directly behind the Villa with easy access in and out of town via Rue Michel.

Further details indoors:
In our recent restoration of this granite stone villa we have been careful to maintain the look and character of a traditional Breton townhouse from the 1700's featuring high ceilings, oak posts & beams, stone walls and tall windows.

The Grand Salon is reached by a tiled entry hall with cloakroom WC. Its beautiful polished terracotta tile floors, exposed granite walls, large stone wood-burning fireplace and grand staircase are impressive. The windows open directly onto views of the medieval walls and ramparts of Dinan. Two over-stuffed setees face the fireplace and a monastery-style dining table and benches seat up to 8. Thick stone walls and ceiling fans ensure your comfort on the warmest summer day and there is central heating and the fireplace in winter.

The grand staircase leads up to the first floor and 3 airy bedrooms: (Bed linens and towels included)

Bedroom 1: 4-poster double bed and armoire, tall windows with wonderful views of the ramparts, oak floor and ceiling fan.

Bedroom 2: double bed with armoire, tall windows with views of the ramparts, oak floor and ceiling fan.

Bedroom 3: two single beds and armoire, exposed stone and oak beam wall, tall windows overlooking the cobbled Rue Michel, oak floor and ceiling fan.

Bathroom: the large bathroom is fully tiled featuring an over-size shower, double sink and WC. There is another cloakroom/WC next to the Grand Salon.

The separate eat-in kitchen is off the main entry hall with high ceilings, tall windows and traditional Breton wall tiles. The kitchen is fully equipped with a granite worktop from the Brittany coast, pine dresser, table and chairs, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and clothes washer.

Further details outdoors:
There is free parking on site directly behind the Villa next to the 'Boule' court and barbecue terrace featuring amazing views of the ramparts, old town gate and cobbled Rue du Petit Fort.
