Dinan

There is no need to travel far for things to do. In Le Quiou and immediately on the door step is a large Roman Settlement, discovered in recent years and is worth a free visit. A 5 minute stroll takes you to the newly restored Chateau du Hac and a local bar and creperie to collect your daily baguette! The local bar is stocked up with essentials, so you hopefully you wont get caught short ... All is accessible from the shady cycle track that runs for miles in both directions, and is adjacent to the house.

Additional bars, restaurants, Boulangerie, Supermarket, Post Office and Tennis courts are located within a 3km radius. The neighbouring village of Evran borders the canal and is popular for walks with a small children's park.

Lake Betineuc is 5km away, and is reachable by the cycle path, bar a 1km stretch of quiet village road. There are plenty of walks, a sport circuit for the fit! and a sandy cove with shallow swimming. During peak season the beach is frequently manned and offers a range of water sports, providing plenty of family fun. For a quieter moment, an abundance of secluded fishing spots are dotted around the 20hectare lake.

"lovely quiet country location, huge house, very clean and comfortable"

Really enjoyed our stay here. Le Quiou is a pretty little village (the kind with one bar and a Creperie and thats your lot). Only 10 mins easy drive to a big supermarket, and 15 mins to Dinan, beautiful medieval town with great shops and restaurants and cafes. surrounded by chateaus and fields full of hay bales and sunflowers it really is idyllic.
House is lovely and spacious and mostly quiet (evenings a little bit of noisy traffic whizzing by but at night time all you can hear are owls and foxes and the wind).
Minor problems like lack of t towels and a few light bulbs and we did have a hot water problem which was rectified as quickly as possible and we got a decent refund. also we had to move a few tables around in the bedrooms so that the bedside lamps would reach a light socket (!) and my only real complaint is a lack of seating in the lounge (it will only comfortably seat 4) but the dining table is nice and the kitchen large. fun wendy house in the garden, except noone came to mow the lawn, so it was a bit unkempt. All in all, though, an enjoyable stay and it was cheaper than most gites we were looking at. It definitely has a rustic feel to it, so if you are into newly refurbished luxury this might not be for you (also, no internet). for a base for our days out it was perfect.

Thank you for your review. We have taken onboard your recommendations, to improve the facilities by providing extra creature comforts to make this a quality stay. Boilers and gardener combinations did jinx our first week of the Summer, but was all resolved! In spite of this I am really pleased that your family enjoyed their stay. Many thanks

"Beautiful location in a friendly village"

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming property; high ceilings, lovely views across fields and the old railway station and cycle track; very spacious and clean. Location is perfect for venturing around the pretty countryside and the stunning town of Dinan and its port are only 15 minutes away. A wide range of beautiful beaches within 35 minutes, including St Malo and Dinard, both definately worth visiting.
