About this location

The Brittany region

Cotes d'Armor , Department 22 , is one of the prettiest in the region of Brittany. With access to picturesque beaches and with many inland lakes to visit for fishing and boating, there is plenty to visit or space to relax.

Situated near the historical town of Dinan, spacious accommodation with all self catering facilities. Just minutes away there are 5 restaurants, 3 bars, 3 supermarkets plus chemists and a main post office. Walking round the beautiful port of Dinan you can take a boat trip on the river, visit Dinan castle and various museums, dine out in the numerous restaurants, cafés or bars or just stroll around the quaint cobbled streets of Dinan's old town.

The pretty village of Lehon is 5 minutes away and boasts a superb outdoor heated swimming pool and sunbathing area, set in this picturesque " Petite Citie de Caractère ". The only outdoor pool in Brittany open and heated (30°C) all year round. Sun terrace and lawn. There is an indoor Tennis Centre also in Lehon.

For those wanting exclusive shopping, the independent shops in St Malo and Rennes are worth a visit , each about 25 mins , or try the traditional French market in Dinan every Thursday.

Within walking distance of the house is Coëtquen Forest located on Crown departments of Ille-et-Vilaine and Cotes d'Armor in the communes of Saint Helen . It is owned by the state since September 5th 1983 and is managed by the National Office of Forests. The forest is named after a village on its periphery and is great for bike rides, dog walking or running. At it's centre are some Megalithic Stones which are common throughout the region.

Other local attractions include Cobac Park 10 mins, a water parc with activities for all ages and La Bourbansais zoo 10 mins, which has a large number of well cared for animals and a spectacular display of hunting hounds plus the guided tours round the chateau are worth while. ( , ).

Also worth a visit for small children is the brilliant Aquarium at St Malo, 25 mins , and for adults there is the Casino at Dinard .

And finally for teenagers, there is a superb 1km go carting centre at Cancale.

"A peaceful retreat, we have very fond memories of our stay"

We spent a very enjoyable week in and around Dinan/Dinard and the Rance valley; each evening it was a delight to return to Bellevue and eat dinner in the garden and relax in the comfortable lounge. The location is nicely remote and very tranquil but also very handy for the nearby towns and shops, the beaches around Dinard/St Malo are not too far to travel to. We hope to return some day!

"Super Summer Getaway...."

A really fantastic house to relax and enjoy the countryside, without being too remote and far from shops towns and beaches. The farmhouse had all the home comforts you would wish for (other than wi-fi). The town of Dinan was only a few minutes away; sailing on the river and eating fab icecreams and crepes were a particular highlight. Our only blip was not knowing that the local outdoor swimming pool at Lehon did not allow bermuda shorts as suitable bathing wear, only "budgie smugglers" ( quoted by our fashion conscious teenagers!!). Top tip on the dietary front from the adult perspective was moules frites with the obligatory red wine to accompany it.
