BookThe Northern Holland / Drenthe region
The Frisian islands make a great day out with some of the best beaches in the Netherlands. They are around 1 ¼ hour’s drive away, with an onward ferry crossing. Also, there is an 18-hole golf course available in Havelte (14km away). Sailing and fishing can be enjoyed at Giethoorn (the Venice of the North). The provincial capital at Assen is just 25 minutes away. While Emmen (with its world-famous zoo), the city of Groningen (shop till you drop) and the German border are all less than an hour's drive away For the children, there are 18 funparks in the surrounding area. More than 25 museums will provide an interest to each member of the family (yes, there's even a museum of comic books!) Diversity on your doorstep: Diever is placed at the crossroads of three provinces - Drenthe, Overijssel and Friesland - all uniquely different to one another. So when you are in Drenthe, why not discover Friesland and Overijssel provinces as well - the borders lie just 15 minutes away by car!

The farmhouse has everything you could want, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Beds were lovely. Very spacious and roomy. David and family, the owners who live at the back of the accommodation, could not have been more helpful, giving us a tour of the village and finding out anything we wanted to know, and the welcome package was very generous. David arranged the hire of bikes for us, which I would recommend, as the area is beautiful and very flat. Would recommend this accommodation to anybody. Thank you very much - we had a very special holiday. |

Your hosts are welcoming, friendly, attentive and helpful without being obtrusive. The front of the property is for holiday let and easily accommodated seven adults, three small children and an infant. The separate kitchen has a breakfast table and also a large family dining table for the adults. In the large lounge there is plenty of easy seating along with TV etc. and a full toy cupboard for the children. The windows look out onto the street and you can glimpse the world go by (not noisy or an intrusion). A ground floor bedroom is handy to give a little separation from the large bedrooms upstairs. There is a little side garden for sitting out or BBQs and sufficient parking for our three cars. Diever is a charming small village in the attractive Drenthe region and has some small shops, restaurants, cafes and take-a-ways for your holiday needs, all within walking distance. We recommend local bicycle hire, canal boat rides and walks in the woods, all of which your host can arrange. Our concerns over only one shower room were overcome by a little flexibility and the use of washbasins in some bedrooms. There are separate loos upstairs and on the ground floor, which helps. The stairs are steep and open to one side, so care is needed, especially with small children and the gate on the drive helps keep them off the street. |
