Haus Ptarmigan sits within the beautiful, unspoilt, traditional, picturesque, Austrian ski town of Dienten am Hochkönig. Located only a 50mins drive from Salzburg. The chalet sits within the largest ski area in Austria the Amade ski region. One ski pass in Ski Amade includes 25 ski areas for you to choose from.
The chalet contains one apartments, with one large bedroom, a separate living room and TV and balcony with spectacular views overlooking the ski pistes into Dienten). 1 Kitchen, bathroom with bath and separate shower, covered parking bay and ski storage.
Chalet is located close to Saalbach and Hinterglemm, Kaprun (Kitzsteinhorn glacier), Kitzbuhel, Zell am See and many more.

In summer there is hiking, cycling, climbing, white water rafting at Taxenbach (best in Austria) - all in spectacular mountain surroundings.
Kitzbuhel is 40' away with great shopping. For those interested in World War II history, you can visit Bertesgarten, where Hitler's mountain home once stood, but now a tourist centre with underground bunkers, you can also visit the Eagle's Nest which has the original elevator that takes you to the top of the mountain. (Summer only).
Dienten am Hochkoenig area
The main ski lifts are two minutes drive from our chalet. There is an excellent restaurant and bar, two minutes walk away at the end of our lane. Perfect distance to walk home from at the end of the night. The house is south facing, so you can relax with a drink at the end of the day and view the warm setting sun through the large panoramic living room window. Stunning scenery.
How to get there
Ryanair and Easyjet, have daily flights from London to Salzburg (1.30hr flight). Transfer from Salzburg to our chalet - 50 mins drive. Various car hire at Salzburg Airport. But you can also check out car hire at travel supermarket.com or lastminute.com. Full details of directions can be supplied upon booking.
Thomsonfly from Bournemouth in winter months. Other airports are Munich and Innsbruck (both 2 hours drive fro Dienten). Rail travel from Salzburg to Saalfelden or Lend - buses to Dienten, but would recommend a car as this gives you the option to drive to the local slopes without waiting for transport.

Further details indoors: The apartments has one large bedroom, a separate living and balcony overlooking the Dienten am Hochkönig valley, with ski slopes either side. The apartment has self catering facilities with all necessary utensils. Micro wave, fridge, Lovely new double sofa bed and additional single pull out is available for families sharing. Cable TV and DVD player. Views are spectacular overlooking the Dienten ski valley. Car essential.
Further details outdoors: Amazing views of the Hochkoenig mountain range from the chalet and resort. The local ski area lies within the Amade ski region. Two minutes drive to Main ski lifts. A two minute walk to a great Austrian rustic restaurant at the end of our lane. Ski pass includes 25 different regions and 860km of piste. Only a short drive also to Saalbach and Hinterglemm, Kitzbuhel, and Kaprun with all year round skiing on its Kitzsteinhorn glacier. There are some fabulous restaurants on the slope and in Dienten. A well kept secret resort.
