Home description

This quiet beautiful beach cottage is situated on Diani Beach near to Kaskazi Hotel and approximately 1km from the shops, banks, restaurants and other amenities of Diani on the Mombasa South Coast. Local fishermen and fruit sellers come daily to the house, which is cared for by an excellent cook and gardener team. There is a night guard for security.

Colobus cottage makes an ideal family holiday retreat and is available for holiday lets at a very reasonable rent. The accommodation sleeps 7 (+cot) and is comprised of a master bedroom with two single beds (under a double box net) with en-suite shower and toilet. Bedroom 2 has three single beds and a cot and leads on to Bedroom 3 with two beds (with versatile double & single box nets). Both bedrooms have direct access to the second bathroom (shower and toilet). The cottage is fully furnished and all linen, towels, crockery and glassware are provided.

The large reception room has double French doors leading to a wide, wrap-around veranda with table and chairs and 4 sun loungers giving a stunning view straight down to the sea. Set in 5 acres, the grounds are private and are well maintained and the pristine white beach is just 50 metres from the house. At low tide, the coral reef has superb snorkelling and glass-bottom boats and deep-sea fishing are easy to arrange.

The Kenyan Coast region

Diani Beach is a beautiful stretch of fine, white sandy beach on Kenya's East Coast. The area has several four star hotels and a few private houses (of which our cottage is one) with direct access to the beach.

The area is ideal for swimming, sun-bathing and relaxing. The nearby hotels offer various watersport facilities and there is a great golf course about 5 minutes drive away. If you wish to see wildlife then it is easy to arrange Safari trips into the various game reserves and about 1.5 hours drive South there is a Marine Park with pristine coral, great snorkelling/diving and where you can swim with the Dolphins.

Diani area

The area is ideal for swimming, sun-bathing and relaxing. The nearby 4* hotels offer various watersport facilities and there is a great golf course about 5 minutes drive away. If you wish to see wildlife then it is easy to arrange Safari trips into the various game reserves and about 1.5 hours drive South there is a Marine Park with pristine coral, great snorkelling/diving and where you can swim with the Dolphins.

Francis will be glad to arrange any transport you need to/from the cottage.

How to get there

The cottage is located on Diani Beach in Kenya. Diani beach is located about an hour's drive South of Mombasa Moi International Airport and there are regular international flights to Mombasa. We can arrange for a taxi to meet you at the airport and transfer you/from to the Cottage.

There is a kitchen which you will not need to know any more about as the resident Cook and Houseboy team - Francis and John, will do all the shopping, prepare and cook all your meals, do the washing up and cleaning.

A central sitting room (see photos) is "Beach House decorated" providing a relaxed environment when you do not wish to be outdoors.

A master bedroom with en-suite loo and shower leads off one side of the sitting room. The second and third bedrooms are off the other side and they share a second loo/shower room.

At the front of the sitting room is a large veranda (part sunny and part shady) where you can eat your meals al fresco, relax on sun loungers and enjoy the view as right in front of you is Diani beach and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Further details outdoors:
The propert is set in its own secluded grounds of about 5 acres with about 75 meters of direct beachfront about 30 paces from the house. At low tide you can walk along the beach and the water is excellent for snorkelling and looking at the marine life. At high tide the water can come up right up to the boundary of the property giving you your own exclusive beach.
