A sweet cottage ideal for a couple but spacious enough for 5 nestled in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains. The cottage lies cradled in the side of the valley in Pontrhydygroes; the doorstep of the historic Hafod Estate with its restored gardens, waterfalls and numerous forest walks.
There are several local nature reserves.It is 20 minutes drive from the Elan Valley, and the same inland from the beautiful Cardigan coast.
Ramblers will enjoy the myriad of paths in the area, bird watchers can spot red kites (amongst many other species), and cycle route 81, reputed to be one of the best in Wales, passes through the village. Fishing permits are available in the local pub and there is a restaurant in Devils Bridge just 3 miles away.
This traditional cottage with a quirky twist makes a great base for a wonderful holiday.
Entrance is into a large oak Porch.
A stable door leads into a stone-floor hallway, then a SITTING ROOM, which has a rustic terracotta tiled and wooden floor, a woodburning stove, comfortable leather seating for 5, writing table and chair, coffee table, colour TV, Sky, DVD, a well stocked bookcase and board-games.
The DINING ROOM is full of character and has a green slate floor with a mosaic border, a dining table, chairs and antique crockery.
The well-equipped galley KITCHEN has a slate floor, tiled walls and is fitted in a country style with a dresser with work top, retro fridge, washer/drier combi microwave oven, gas hob, open shelving and cupboards.
A stable door leads outside onto a large stone patio.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms; both have solid oak floors and lovely views over the valley.
BEDROOM 1 has a high sloped ceiling lined in oak with exposed rafters, the room is furnished with a kingsize four poster bed, oak wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and enjoys a triple aspect.
BEDROOM 2 has two painted brass beds: a double bed (accessed from one side only) and a single, there is a chest of drawers and a small wardrobe. Bedlinen and duvets are provided.
The family BATHROOM has a bath with shower over, WC and wash hand basin.
Garden and Parking
The attractive garden surrounds the cottage on 3 sides and has mature trees, shrubs, flower borders, lawned and patio areas, garden furniture and a barbecue. There are lovely views.
There are 2 parking spaces outside the cottage but if you have a wide or long car it is best to park it in the village and walk up the steep hill.
A basket of logs will be provided for the woodburning stove, thereafter available locally. Vintage cast iron radiators throughout, oil is included from May to September and charged for at a flat rate of £25 per week at all other times (please leave payment at cottage).

Towels are available on request at £3 per guest.
Up to two well-behaved pets are welcome but must be kept downstairs and off the furniture.
