If you are looking for a holiday in the mass tourist industry that Cyprus has generated, please look elsewhere. Here, in this property, you will experience the buzz of daily Cypriot life, the way the locals live it. Walk through the tightly built old city, its narrow lanes, and experience what Cyprus is really about.
Visit the local markets, the local “Kafeneio”, eat at the local mezedopoleio. The property is within a stone’s throw of the medieval castle, where Richard the Lionheart wedded Berengaria on May 12, 1191 AD. You will hear the church bells ring and the Imam's call to prayer; the Turkish quarter is only 5 minutes away (walking). And if its culture you are after, walk to the local open air cinema, local theatres or drive to the ancient Greek theatre of Curium where regular international productions are staged.
The weather is good (statistically only 330 days of sunshine per year) the beach is less than 1km (10min walk) away. And that is downhill.

Limassol is the largest coastal resort in Cyprus. It is a bustling city, second only to the capital, Nicosia. Yiayia’s House is located in the centre of the medieval district. This area is not what the locals call the ‘tourist district'; that may be found on the outskirts of the new town.
If you wish to experience true urban Cyprus, the way the locals live it, this is as close as it gets. Here you will find an abundance of cultural and gastronomic venues, including shops, kafeneia (coffee houses), cinemas, theatres, bars, tavernas and restaurants. The old harbour (now a fishing shelter), the new promenade, the Ottoman quarter, the hamam baths (which still function), the medieval castle (where Richard the Lionheart wed Berengaria in 1191) and the new marina are all a short walk away.
The property is also ideal as a base for exploring other parts of the island. Limassol is served by several new motorways which offer easy access to airports, other cities and the Troodos mountain range. Close by you will find another medieval castle (Kolossi), and the ancient Graeco-Roman cities of Curium and Amathus. There are three 18 hole golf courses within half an hour’s drive and no city is closer to the island’s vine lands. Please visit our links pages (found on our website) for ideas on activities and for information on regular local events such as the WRC Rally and the annual Limassol Wine Festival.
