Located close to the Pyrenees and Corbiere mountains, Limoux is a wonderful town for a summer or winter break. The renowned city of Carcassonne is only half an hour away , while Toulouse and Narbonne are only just over 1 hour away.
Limoux has an excellent municipal swimming pool and the area is great for cycling , canoeing and running. The Mediterranean is only just over 1 hour away with a fantastic beach at Narbonne Plage. White water sports including rafting are available in the Alet-Les-Bain/Quillan area and kayaking from Limoux itself.. Winter sports fans are catered for by various resorts in the Pyrenees including Ax-Les-Thermes which is just over 1 hour away and reaches a height of 2400 metres.
Limoux is in the heart of the historic Cathar country and provides easy access to many historic buildings including the UNESCO World Heritage Listed cite of Carcassonne, the castles of Peyrepertuse, Queribus, Puilaurens to mention just a few. And dont forget the 17th century Canal Du Midi accessible from various points including Carcassonne and Beziers.
There are many museums and galleries in the area including in Limoux a small but excellent art gallery as well as a piano museum; at Esperaza there is a dinosaur museum, as well as a hat museum; the Canal du Midi museum is at Saint Ferreol .
The apartment itself is located on the banks of the beautiful River Aude and has been recently renovated and decorated in a modern style,and has an art deco style exterior. There are 3 double bedrooms , an open plan kitchen , a lounge with sunny balcony , dining room , toilet and separate shower room. The third bedroom has a sofa bed and so is ideally suited for children.
There is a shared garden area facing the River Aude to the rear, for relaxing , firing up the barbeque etc., and the excellent local swimming pool (outdoor in the summer and indoors in the winter) is a minutes walk away. The parcours de sante (health park) with lots of outdoor exercise equipment is only a minute away and leads down to the banks of the River Aude where we even have a little "beach". You can walk along the river bank to the centre of town in only 10 minutes.
The tennis club and kayaking centre are situated on the same complex as the swimming pool.
The centre of Limoux has a large number of independent shops, cafes, bistros and restaurants.For a drink try the famous Blanquette de Limoux - the first brut in the world, or many other local wines including the excellent Cotes De Malepere reds or Corbieres or Minervois for example. As for eating why not try a local cassoulet, or a fricassee de Limoux.
The Place De La Republique is the hub of the town and has regular entertainment throughout the summer months.

The town boasts the longest carnival in the world which runs from January through to March every year.
There are lots of water sports available on the River Aude e.g. in Limoux itself or Couiza or Quillan.
Nearest beach is approx 1 hour away at Narbonne Plage or there are nice lakes at Puivert , Montbel or Carcassonne 30 mins away.
