Beussent lies just 10 minutes north of Montreuil in the beautiful Course Valley. It's a quiet and peaceful location with a bar, restaurant, school and post office in around the village sqaure by the site of the old flour mill on the river. Beussent has it's own chocolate factory which has over 70,000 visitors each year! Like all villages, there are a good tradition of fetes and festivals held throughout the year.
The fortified town of Montreuil is the nearest large town at about 10 minutes. It has spectacular views from it's ramparts and its where Victor Hugo stayed in 1867 and based some of the characters he met in the town for Les Miserables. Montreuil is a rich historical site with lots of places to see and good bars and restaurants to relax and unwind and watch the world go by! In the summer there are sound and light shows of Les Miserables and the brocante (flea market of antiques and bric 'a' brac) on Bastille Day is not to be missed on 14th July!
