Hope Sike cottage is a one bed-roomed cottage on Scotchcoulthard Farm which is situated four miles north of Hadrian's Wall in The Northumberland National Park at its most spectacular part. It is halfway between Carlisle and Hexham on the edge of Wark Forest which leads into Kielder Forest. It is necessary to cross the wall to reach Scotchcoulthard and the sites of Housesteads, Vindolanda and The Roman Army Museum are only a short distance away. There is room in the bedroom for a cot or truckle bed for a small child.
Although remote, Scotchcoulthard is not isolated. It is possible to be parked in The Metro Centre, Newcastle, Carlisle, The Lake District or Scotland within the hour.
There are four cottages in total and this cosy cottage, which has been described as a "little Gem", is ideal as a romantic getaway cottage or an extra cottage to use when bringing parents or teenagers on holiday. The small entrance hall leads into the living area with a stone flagged floor covered with rugs. This room rises high into the pitch and has roof lights and windows catching the early morning sun.
The living area is open plan with a Victorian open fire, coal and logs provided, bounded by cupboards with a leather reclining couch opposite. Set in a long recess is the counter and sink with twin electric hob and combination microwave. The dining table sits in front of the french windows which open out onto a patio area with fantastic views of the countryside.
The bedroom, with king-size bed, is bright and sunny. It leads into the en-suite bathroom which has a large double ended bath, sink and toilet.
The farm is set within 180 acres and is surrounded by splendid scenery with magnificent views and not another inhabited dwelling in sight. We welcome dogs and our own will welcome you. We don't charge extra for dogs and there is no restriction on number.
There are Rare Breed pigs, sheep, hens and a horse. Farm produce is often available and help with feeding.
