The Dordogne region

The Dordogne is one of the most attractive destinations in France yet remains a relatively quiet and unspoilt region popular with the French and the "Brits", around every corner there seems to be a medieval town or village with a cobbled square and inviting streets to explore.

The countryside is often spectacular with the Dordogne River providing a back drop to the castles perched high above a village or town and the opportunities to visit Chateaux and gardens are many and varied.

The region is also famous for its cuisine and most villages will have 2 or 3 cafes or bars many of which will offer the regional fare or a simple croque-monsieur to be enjoyed with a cool beer while watching the world go by.

Sarlat is well served by modern motorways with the A20 running North to South and the A89 running West to Bergerac, and the coast ., and for air travellers there are airports at Bergerac (about 75k), Limoge (About 120k) and Brive (40k) all the major low-cost airlines have a regular service from the UK during the summer months to the Dordogne

Les Borie is situated in an elevated position above Carsac with the local amenities a 400metre walk down the hill or along the cycle track. There is a choice of 2 bars a pizzeria and a couple of hotels providing a plat de jour

Markets in the area are numerous, the premier market being Sarlat on Saturdays but make sure that you get there before 12 as many stalls will be packed and gone.
