The fishing port of Padstow is less than two miles away and a similar distance away is the Trevose Golf and Country Club. The North Cornwall coast is a Designated Area of Outstanding Beauty ,The coastal path links all the bays with superb coastal scenery, dramatic cliffs, quiet coves and stretches of sandy beach. All beaches in this area have a very high standard of cleanliness.
The Camel Trail is close by - a great cycle ride for all ages and abilities and a wonderful day out. The Padstow to Wadebridge section, with a stop for lunch is just right if you have children with you. Bicycles can be hired in Padstow or in Wadebridge.
For a wet day or any day when you do not necessarily want to be on the beach Creally Adventure Park is a 15 minute drive away and perfect for children of all ages. Further afield but most certainly worth a trip is the famous Eden Project.
Cornwall has always been a great place to holiday as a family and that hasn't changed. We have a great range of activities to suit all tastes and pockets!
The biggest attraction has got to be our beaches. Other than paying to park during peak season, these are free! We have one for every day of the week and many you can walk to. Buckets, spades and other beach paraphernalia can be purchased cheaply at one of the many beach shops nearby.
The Camel Trail is free to use. If you bring your own bike, it will cost you nothing, otherwise you can hire a bike from one of the hire centres.
Crabbing is a very cheap and very entertaining way to spend the afternoon, regardless of your age. Crab lines and bait can be bought from many of the shops around the harbour including Padstow Angling Centre. The inner harbour is the best place to catch them. Drop a baited line into the water and wait for the baby crabs to bite. Put them in a bucket of sea water then put them back into the harbour when you're done. The crabs bite readily, they seem to realise its an easy way to a free meal! N.B. Padstow is a working harbour and you are not advised to crab from any of the slipways or steps that have boats working from them e.g. the ferry slip.
Padstow has band concerts regularly throughout the summer. The children seem to love watching and dancing along with them! Its not unusual for the band master to get the children involved in some way.
Our whole area is great for walking. There are short and long walks to suit all ages and abilities.
All of Cornwall is accessible from Padstow, which opens up a wide range of places to visit. Don't forget to check out the local event guide for events happening during your stay.
Our nearest big attraction is Cornwall's Crealy. Keep an eye on website for events, offers and special visitors occurring at Crealy throughout the season.
Other great things to do in our area are surfing, fishing and karting.
If you want to get out on the water, there are speed boats that run high speed trips throughout the season leaving from the harbour and the Jubilee Queen runs hourly trips exploring the coast line with a commentary. Padstow Sealife Safaris can offer you a more bespoke trip allowing you to get up close to wildlife.
