This region is famous for its dry climate which provides the perfect weather for a relaxing and healthy holiday. There are lots of salt lakes which provide a natural habitat for all types of birds , particularly flamingos.
Torrevieja is a great base for a varied holiday with something for everyone. There are beautiful sandy beaches closeby and the apartment is just a few minutes from a rocky cove where the kids can safely go crabbing whilst you sunbathe on the sandy beach.
There are numerous bars and restaurants nearby and the supermarket stocks everything you need. There is a different market everyday with a permanent night market in the town centre next to the funfair for the kids. There is a go cart track just outside of town.
There are many interesting places to visit - just a short bus or car ride away. Alicante Town is great for shopping and the old castle at the top of the hill is worth a look. You can walk up to the castle through a fascinating village built into the steps. Cartegena is also nearby and well worth a trip to see its medieval fortifications. The small town of Lo Pagan, just down the coast is famous for its therapeutic mud and salt water lake with the seawater just on the other side of the promenade.
