Great Coombe self catering holiday cottage is one of 4 cottages, personally run by Andrew and Nicola Foot at Bookham Court, Alton Panras, north of Dorchester.. Converted from a redundant farm building Great Coombe is the perfect location for friends and families visiting Dorset. Sleeping 9, this cottage has a large sitting/dining room with woodburner and inglenook fireplace and a separate kitchen. The double ensuite bedroom has a balcony looking out over the garden and field/fishing lake. There is an additional double and twin bedroom upstairs and a large downstairs twin with wetroom downstairs. Children and pets are welcome and travel cots, highchairs and stairgates can be provided. A patio with furniture and bbq and large shared garden, together with a games room next door to this cottage make it ideal for children of all ages. There is a wi-fi hotspot in the games room.
All guests have use of a course fishing lake, wildlife hide with interactive cameras into bird boxes and the footpaths over our farm. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Great Coombe is situated in the hamlet of Bookham in the centre of Dorset, with panoramic views over Thomas Hardy's Blackmore Vale. Half way between Dorchester and Sherborne it is the ideal location for exploring the Dorset countryside and the Jurassic coast.
Bookham is a tranquil hamlet where you will only be woken by birds singing. Buckland Newton, a mile away has a fantastic village shop, selling local produce and papers. The Gaggle of Geese public house is popular with locals and visitors alike, with the chef cooking good value home cooked pub food. Within 4 miles there are several other very good eating establishments.
The historic towns of Dorchester and Sherborne are within 10 miles with castles, abbeys and individual shops to explore.
Weymouth and the coast is an half an hour drive with many attractions for all ages, ie Abbotsbury Gardens, swannery and smugglers barn.
