Just across the Kirkstone Pass on the other side of the watershed lies Ullswater. A quieter and more unspoilt area but enclosed by some of the best walking hills in the entire National Park. Stunning views, wondrous natural features and an ever changing landscape make this a 'must see 'location for your holiday.
Good quality cafes', restaurants and pubs are easily found with menu's to suit all tastes and pockets with locally produced meat, fruits, vegetables and beer featuring strongly.
Adventurous activities of all kinds are catered for: Rock climbing, gorge walking, sailing, canoeing, pony trekking, quad biking, even skiing, (provided you are prepared to climb the 1000 foot or so to the pistes and ski lift).
Glenridding has glorious views across Ullswater towards Place Fell. The jetties line up perfectly with Silver Point and is one of the most photographed views in the Lake District. Glenridding boasts two major hotels, 'The Glenridding' and 'The Inn on the Lake', as well as a pub and several cafes. Food, drink, souvenirs and walking equipment are available in the local shops and there is an excellent Tourist Information Centre based in the village.
The flat is situated in the grounds of 'The Inn on the Lake' Hotel which has amenities which may benefit guests. The Hotel has a small Spa and Gym for the use of its residents as well as a croquet pitch and 9 hole pitch and putt golf course. Use by Flat guests is solely at the discretion and with the permission of the Hotel Management who may charge. Opposite to the Flat is The Ramblers Bar which sells fine food, wines and beer and which has a small games room and Sky TV. Again, the hotel management may close this to the public from time to time to accommodate the many weddings they host.
