Cala Mondrago is a small Blue Flag beach situated within Mondrago National Park. It has been protected from development and is considered to be one of Mallorca's most beautiful areas, with it's sand dunes, pine forests, beautiful coastline and rocky coves.

The resort has been sympathetically developed, with plenty of white-washed adobe style buildings and it is one of the nicer resorts along the east coast. People come here to sail, dive and drink champagne at waterfront bars. The coves have charming little beaches that are surrounded by woodland and cliffs. The beaches themselves are pretty small and get very busy during peak holiday season. But if you can bear it, the water is wonderfully clear and inviting, and ideal for swimming on a warm summer's day.
A bonus for foodies is that Cala d'Or is home to plenty of decent restaurants. Head to the main marina to find harbour side eateries.
Cala d'Or is the name given to a stretch of development along the east coast that includes a number of coves and resorts (Cala Ferrera, Cala Esmeralda, Cala Serena, Cala Gran & Cala Llonga). Each of the various calas (bays) has its own distinctive character where former fishing harbours have been turned into marinas.

The east coast of Mallorca benefits from the best weather and the best beaches. Far away from the disruptive Tramuntana mountain range, you are guaranteed the greatest number of sunshine hours on Majorca. And as luck would have it, the beaches here are just the most picturesque you could ever wish for. With soft white sand and blue-green seas, backed by pine forests (where resorts have not taken over), the beaches are delightful.
Cala d'Or itself has five small beaches, and when we say small, we mean SMALL! The largest is Cala Gran which is only 40 metres wide - it is however, 100 metres deep so as long as you don't want to lie right by the water's edge, you should be able to find a place to sit. Each of the other four beaches are similar in that they are located within sheltered coves, so don't expect huge expanses of beach and sea views! Be warned that all five beaches are very busy in the summer months. FInd out more about Cala d'Or beaches on our Cala d'Or Beaches page.
If you are prepared to travel a little further afield (and by that we mean you need a car or a boat), then you should head to Mondrago Natural Park. This area is protected from development and has a real back to nature feel. There are two beaches here - S'Aramador & Mondrago - and both offer gorgeous soft white sand and incredible blue sea. They are linked by a paved promenade and there are beach bars at both. The Park also has several trails that you can explore which take you along the coastline.
For something really wild, try Cala Varques. No car park, no facilities, but fantastic scenery and big waves to play in!
