La Roche is situated about two hours drive from the coast at Arcachon, near Bordeaux. This coast possesses some of the most spectacular sand dunes in Europe - definitely worth seeing. The town of Arcachon is a charming French seaside town. Well worth the trip.

Golf in SW France is a hidden secret. If you enjoy challenging golf played in some wonderful settings and welcoming golf clubs, this is the place for you. Green fees are small in comparison to Portugal and Spain.
Visit the local championship golf course at Chateau Vigier 15 minutes away, set in the grounds of a stunning chateau. Spa and beauty facilities available also. Top class restaurant + terrace dining very reasonably priced. Marmande Golf Club, is a 10 hole course. This is a really friendly club where you will be made to feel most welcome. The course has many challenging holes, a driving range and several practice holes.
Casteljalou is a beautiful 18 hole course, clubs may be hired, a challenging course but not one to be missed.
Tombaboeuf is a 9 hole course in lovely countryside. Quiet, undemanding and currently run by a British professional.
Langon is a great 18 hole course with a lovely clubhouse and very welcoming staff, next door to the Sauterne wine area.
Visit the local town of Duras 8km away with its imposing chateau, bustling Monday market and lively Thursday night market. Or treat yourselves to a trip to the chocolate factory. Duras has 2 banks (with cash machines), post office, 1 mini supermarket in the town square and a larger one (Carrefour) on the outskirts of town, and a large le Clerc in Ste Foy La Grande. There are restaurants in the town and surrounding area with menus to suit all budgets. There are GP and dental services available in Duras. The local village of St Sernin de Duras has two excellent floodlit tennis courts, a great restaurant, cafe, bar, tabac and general store which stocks fresh bread and croissants.
