The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

The Dordogne region is divided into four sections. The Perigord Noir, Perigord Vert. Perigord Blanche and Perigord Poupre. The climate is generally 10F warmer than Britain. Each section has its own character the Perigord Noir being heavenly wooded, Perigord Vert contains most fruit trees and Perigord Poupre is mostly the wine area.

Siorac-en-Perigord

Our house is in the Perigord Noir, a delightful area through which the river Dordogne runs making it ideal for canoeing trips and flat bottomed pleasure boat trips. There are several golf courses within easy reach, all pay and play. Hot air balloon trips are available.

Horse riding. Walking. Cycling. There are lots of activities in the area as well as many chateaux and ancient market towns to visit. Each town or village has its own special restaurant.
