The Tayside/Perthshire region

Perthshire is the perfect centre of Scotland, with Glasgow and Edinburgh airports just an hour away.

Perthshire is the ideal location when visiting Scotland because many of Scotland's famous landmarks are within comfortable travelling distance, whether it is golf, gardens, distilleries, or castles you are interested in. Known for its spectacular scenery, Perthshire is referred to as 'The Big Tree County' and one of the best times to visit is in the autumn when the area bursts into a gorgeous display of colour as the leaves change.

Crieff

Crieff, the gateway to the Highlands, is a bustling, thriving Perthshire town just six miles from Gleneagles Hotel and world famous golf. With a back drop of hills, scenic parks, great fishing and lochs close by, it's no wonder it used to be called 'The Holiday Town'.

On a former Drover's road, Crieff celebrates this part of its history every year with The Drovers' Tryst - a festival in October which celebrates the days when cattle were driven through the town on the way to markets in Central Scotland.

If Scottish whiskey is your interest, The Glenturret Distillery (home of the Famous Grouse) is located just outside the town, and if gardening is your bent, the famous gardens at Drummond Castle are less than a mile away. The town boasts a number of excellent restaurants and delicatessens as well as independent, local shops.

Skiing, fishing, golf, walking and water sports are all available close by so there really is something for everyone in Crieff.
