As Playa San Juan is situated on the South West Coast It is close to Los Gigantes and other major resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas, with frequent local bus service to all of these places.
Further afield, is the cliff village of Masca, where people once lived without access to other parts of Tenerife, and offers an insight into the old Canarian way of life. Playa San Juan offers a truly wonderful holiday with its friendly Canarian charm. It is a coastal fishing village tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the busier noisier resorts. There are many local fiestas, with the main one held at the end of July running into August, culminating in a magnificent firework display. The long sweeping promenade is dotted with pavement cafes, extremely good restaurants to suit all tastes, and old-style tapas bars.
It ends at the working harbour, where local fishermen arrive with their daily catches. Close to the harbour is a lovely beach area, which includes shower facilities and safe bathing. A new coastal walkway has been built behind the beach, and this commands magnificent views out to sea and to the island of La Gomera. The local market is held every Wednesday morning in the Church Square
