The Heart of England/Peak District

Hillcrest Barn is ideally located in the heart of the Peak District National Park, in the centre of the White Peak village of Monyash, near to Bakewell.

Bakewell

Walk from the door in Lathkil Dale or over to the ancient stone circle of Arbor Low or follow the Limestone Way.

Cycle from the door on your choice of cycle trails the nearest being the High Peak Trail just over a mile away.

Lots more walking and cycling within a short drive of Monyash.

Alternatively, visit Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Dovedale, Alton Towers, Buxton with its Opera House, Ashbourne, Castleton and its caves, Bakewell, Cromford and Scarthin Books and famous for its connection with Arkwright.

Both Bakewell and Chatsworth have annual shows. Bakewell Show will take place on Wednesday and Thursday 6th and 7th August in 2014. Chatsworth Show will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 29th, 30th and 31st August 2014.

The White Peak Walk, a 26 mile Challenge Walk, starts and finished in Monyash annually. The 2014 walk is on Saturday 12th July.

Derbyshire is famous for its Well Dessing festivals. Monyash has its own Well Dressing Festival during the May bank holiday week.
