The cottage is located in the beautiful, secure walled garden, originally the kitchen garden of the Manor House. The garden is well established (approximately an acre) and is a pleasure to behold, there are many specimen plants and trees, an amazing apple arbour, a herb garden and lots of little paths meandering . On a sunny day you can enjoy a barbeque, relax in the garden and watch the sun go down towards the beach. The cottage has a sunken patio directly off the lounge with table and chairs, an outdoor shower (for after the beach or hosing the dog), an outdoor storage area for boards or bikes, a few steps lead to a sun terrace with sun loungers, gas bbq, and table, and a gateway to the rest of the walled garden. North Devon is fast becomming one of the country's top destinations for holidays at any time of year. There is very good access to the area witha new dual carriageway joining the M5 from Junction 27 and bridge at Barnstaple.
The area is renowned as having some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK with Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks to explore, some of the finest golden sandy beaches many with blue flags. There are supberb walks, expecially along the coastline - much of which is owned by the National Trust and are in protected Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are castles and grand houses to visit, there are country towns and pastel coloured fishing villages to discover.
There are childrens adventure parks, golfing, horse riding, fishing, shooting, coastal villages, moors, ferry trips (a list to long to mention of things to do).
Putsborough is a beautiful hamlet of traditional thatched devonshire houses a couple of minutes walk from the golden sandy beach of Putsborough which is 3 miles long with the popular holiday destination of Woolacombe nestled at the far end. Putsborough is very close to Croyde Bay a couple of minutes drive by car but also accessible via a footpath/bridal way approx 3/4 mile. The beautiful Saunton Sands is the next beach to Croyde, the nearest larger town is Braunton about 4 miles away.
The village of Georgeham 1 mile away also offers facilties such as 2 child and dog friendly pubs offering great food, well stocked village store and post office.
The village of Croyde is 1.5 mile by car a bit bigger and busier in the summer months, offering 3 pubs, restuarant and independant shops.
