This traditional charming rustic MountainTurkish Yayla Cottage has been carefully renovated maintaining all of its original features, but also adding some modern facilities, and offers a pool for those hot sunny summer days.

The area is a rural mountain farming community, and is surrounded by small fields, olive groves, orchards and pine forests. This area is very green due to the continual snow melt through the summer months. On walks you may pass goat herders, admire the stunning view of Fethiye bay at sunset, or find yourself a stone to sit a while and contemplate!

Until about June you will be surrounded by snow capped mountains. It takes about fifteen minutes to walk to our nearest neighbours, who of course only speak Turkish. There are miles of mountain tracks to explore, and a sat.nav is available if you wish to use it.

This is an ideal retreat where you can relax and de-stress.

The cottage is about 50 minutes out of Fethiye, up into the Taurus Mountains, just above the ancient site of Tlos castle.

For those wanting plenty of R & R we will arrange pick up from Fehtiye or Dalaman airport, otherwise car rental is available from about £20 per day, this enables you to go further and explore the area. We are not far from Saklikent Gorge and only 10 minutes from Tlos Castle, and 5 minutes from the famous Yaka Park waterfall restaurants.

The world famous Olu Deniz 'Blue Lagoon' where the world para gliding championships are held each year in October is about an hour away by car. Also easily reached is the 16mile long sandy beach of Patara, and numerous other beautiful areas to visit such as the quaint town of kalkan.

If you like walking this is certainly a place to visit with stunning mountain views everywhere,

We live about 100m away from the cottage and are available for information, guided walks, and maintain the pool and water the gardens and orchard as needed. We welcome all our guests on arrival and are only a call away should you need help, but of course respect your privacy at all times.

There are no local buses or shops within walking distance, or broadband here. This is a 'REAL RETREAT'. For a complete 'get a way' come and visit us!

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

This region of Turkey is much greener than many other areas along this coast due to the snow melt water from the mountains. It is a few degrees cooler here in the mountains at 850m above sea level, heaven on a hot summers day.

You are within easy reach of Fethiye with it's old town bazaars, Turkish baths and harbour. Day boat tours can be booked here and are always a great day out, food included. There are plenty of great places to experience Turkish food here.

The world famous 'Blue Lagoon' at Olu Deniz with long beaches and where the World Paragliding Championships are held in October each year, an amazing sight is only 1 hour away. Of course you may like to experience paragliding from Baba Dag mountain over the lagoon, and landing on the beach?

Calis and Patara beach about 50 min away.

The scenery is breath taking and splendid with views back to Fethiye bay (50 min drive) in one direction and Patara beach in the other. Sunsets are stunning. Mountain Cottage has a back drop of large mountains and in cooler months walkers can climb for about an hour to the top of the first ridge and look over the high plateaux and higher mountains beyond.

There are miles of mountain tracks to explore and guests often like to accompany us on our walks. Evening time in the summer.

June temperatures are usually into the 30's, July and August can reach into the 40's, but cooler than town, and often with a light breeze. The stone cottage with very thick walls remains cool in summer.

Of course with no light polution this is the ideal place to star gaze, and Ray is happy to share his telescope with guests.

You are within a 5 mintutes drive of the Yaka Parks, which started as trout farms but are now big restaurants serving freshly cooked food and mezes whilst sitting in the cool by the cascading water falls and streams. These are a big attraction for both tourists and Turkish locals who like to visit here in the summer.

About 10 minutes from the cottage is Tlos Castle with it's rock tombs and amazing history. You can also find little cafes here happy to cook you trout or chicken, with salads, chips etc or buy an ice cream after you explorations.

Back down onto the valley road, about 35 min from here is Saklikent Gorge, the longest in Europe, with vertical cliff sides and ice melt water flowing through the bottom. In summer you can walk km's paddling in the cool water or even have a raft futher down the river. Here too are plenty of eating places by the river side, also little market stalls and trout farms.

The local shop is about 5 minutes by car, they sell fresh bread, biscuits, ice cream etc (not usually fresh fruit or veg because all our neighbours are self sufficient) but you will need to travel to Seydikemer about 30 minutes away for bigger supermarkets, or pick shopping up in Fethiye on your way here. I am happy to help with shopping please ask?

You will not need to buy drinking water as the fresh piped mountain water is drinkable.
